Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Talent Development team in Human Resources is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Instructional Designer Senior Analyst.
The person in this role is the primary experience designer for learning experiences across Toyota Motor North America. This role requires a strategic thinker and collaborative partner who can assess, design, develop, and execute a variety of learning experiences that drive business goals.
Our ideal candidate applies the latest research and knowledge in instructional design and learning theory to create engaging, memorable, and outcome-driven learning. Reporting to the Learning Design and Development Manager, the person in this role will support HR Talent Development team’s objective to enable and support team member learning and development.
This position is based in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Own the end-to-end life cycle of learning deliverables, from needs analysis to script and storyboard creation, development of deliverables, marketing and communications, and evaluation
Own the learning strategy for large, complex, enterprise-wide initiatives
Advise business functions, SMEs, and stakeholders on learning strategy and design decisions that drive business outcomes
Lead the evaluation of learning product effectiveness using data analytics, learner feedback, and research in learning theory to identify areas of improvement
Work collaboratively with an agile learning team, managing project timelines to deliver timely and quality products
Review and evaluate work from peers through feedback, design input, and quality assurance
Leverage AI tools for rapid prototyping, script support, localization, or workflow acceleration in learning design when appropriate
Actively participate in internal and external learning & development communities to share best practices and set standards for quality learning
Leverage new methodologies and modalities to identify opportunities for innovation
Support facilitation of learning experiences as needed
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) or equivalent professional work experience relevant to this position
5+ years of relevant work experience as an instructional/learning designer, curriculum developer, or a similar role
Advanced knowledge of instructional design principles, models, and theories including emerging learning technologies
Experience designing beyond individual courses to support the full learning ecosystem, including LMS/LXP integration
Experience designing assessments and evaluating the effectiveness of learning programs
Proficiency with content authoring tools and systems (Articulate Suite, Camtasia, Vyond, Adobe Creative Cloud, and/or similar platforms)
Experience working with ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex stakeholder groups
Cross-functional project management experience and process experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proposal development and presentation
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
Added bonus if you have
Advanced Degree, training, or certifications in Instructional Design, Curriculum & Instruction, Education, Organizational Development, or similar
User experience (UX) planning and design experience
Experience working with agile/scrum methodology for Instructional Design
Demonstrated experience with large-group facilitation and virtual learning delivery
Experience working in a hybrid work environment (part-time virtual, part-time in the office)
Ability to submit a portfolio of previous work
