Description
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of International Code Council hardware, software and related infrastructure. Duties include daily health monitoring, diagnosing of technical issues, research, and upgrades.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES or tasks performed:
- Manages, maintains, and monitors infrastructure services.
- Maintains installation, configuration, and disaster recovery procedures related to systems created by or supported by this role.
- Configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Contributes to and maintains system standards.
- Coordinates assigned infrastructure projects, maintaining project status and scheduling reports.
- Deploys patches and updates for software and operating systems.
- Manages and maintains anti-virus and anti-malware systems.
- Administers phone system, including wireless.
· Provides occasional onsite support to end users, resolving hardware, software, and system access issues.
- Performs daily system monitoring verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Restores data from backups when recovery is needed.
- Creates, changes and removes AD users, mailboxes and other resources as requested.
- Provides Tier 2 support for desktops and production software.
- Provides input for the hardware and software purchases.
- Manage vendor and maintenance agreements.
- Configures, maintains, and monitors company-wide backup solutions and backup storage infrastructure to ensure data protection and recovery readiness.
- Configures, maintains, and supports internal network and system monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- ·Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in systems administration
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrates organizational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of server/desktop platforms such as: Server 2016 – 2025 and beyond, Windows 10/11.
- Knowledge of Active Directory including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, User and Group Management
- Knowledge administering Hyper-V Failover Clustering, and SAN/NAS environments.
- Knowledge of 365 including Microsoft Entra, Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, Purview, Intune.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is an office environment with a moderate noise level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear.
