Position Summary: The Marketing and Communications Specialist is an at-will position that reports to the Development Manager. This position will work with the development team by supporting brand awareness, organizational storytelling, social media content, digital and print marketing, community outreach, and overall administration
Duties and Responsibilities
Brand Awareness:
Develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications plans that support organizational goals.
Create compelling content for digital, print, and multimedia channels.
Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all communications.
Social Media & Digital Marketing:
Manage the organization's social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Create and schedule content, including photos, graphics, videos, and blog posts.
Monitor engagement and respond to inquiries.
Support email marketing campaigns and audience segmentation efforts.
Content Creation & Storytelling:
Create impact-focused content that demonstrates mission outcomes and community impact.
Write and edit newsletters, website content, marketing materials, and organizational publications.
Coordinate communication calendars and campaign timelines.
Organize and share client, volunteer, donor, and program success stories.
Collaborate with program staff to highlight organizational initiatives and achievements.
Fundraising & Development Support:
Assist with fundraising campaigns, appeals, and donor communications.
Create promotional materials for fundraising events and initiatives.
Promote events through digital and traditional marketing channels.
Working with the staff leadership, lead the coordination of impact reports and donor-facing communications.
Manage communication calendars and campaign timelines.
Data & Reporting:
Track marketing and communications metrics, including email, social media, website, and campaign performance.
Prepare reports demonstrating the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
Collaboration & Administrative Support:
Work closely with development, program, and leadership teams to support organizational marketing priorities.
Manage relationships with vendors, designers, printers, photographers, and other external partners.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
2-5 years of marketing, communications, or nonprofit experience.
Technical skills in Microsoft and Google Workspace services
Proficiency with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
Prior experience using tools such as Canva, WordPress, Constant Contact
Excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Self-discipline and time management skills to work independently.
Ability to work in a public and professional manner.
Reliable transportation and maintenance of automobile insurance
Valid driver’s license, Lighthouse reserves that right to require a driving record check with respect to any employee where driving is an essential function of the position.
