SUMMARY
Reporting to the Operations Manager and as part of the site Maintenance Team the incumbent will be responsible for the effective operation and maintenance of the facility with particular emphasis on: patching painting, planned maintenance. The incumbent must be able to work in a high hazard, high security and Institutional setting.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Painting, patching, sanding and applying paint coatings and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings:
- Estimates the quantity of materials required by measuring surfaces or reviewing a work order
- Responds to client work orders and planned Preventive Maintenance projects
- Creates budgets and work estimates to management for planned projects
- Removes old coatings by stripping with solvents, heat, sanding, wire brushing, or water and sand blasting
- Completes dry wall repair and patching
- Prepares surfaces for covering by cleaning, filling nail holes and cracks, and sanding rough spots
- Applies an undercoat primer or sealer before painting, or apply sizing before wallpapering
- Matches specified colors by using premixed paints, or mixing color and pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives.
- Use brushes, rollers or spray guns to apply liquid coatings such as paint, stain or varnish to surfaces of wood, metal, brick, concrete, plaster, stucco or stone
- Sandblasts and apply industrial coatings
- Applies finishes that are sponged, ragged and layered
- Applies paper, vinyl or natural and synthetic fabric wallcoverings
- Is aware of product changes and recommends product upgrades
- Follow all environmental codes and practices and conform to applicable legislation
- May assist other team members as requested, including but not limited to furniture moves, equipment installations, quality assurance checks, other assigned duties.
What we look for
- Five or more years of technical experience in facility operations and maintenance, or construction.
- Basic computer experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and CMMS
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
- May be required to respond to occasional emergencies outside of normal business hours.
- Trained in Fall Protection and aerial platform
- Commercial and Industrial Safety FLHA/JSA
- Current knowledge of building and safety codes for both exterior and interior work
- Good color sense
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to move heavy ladders and industrial equipment at the work site
- A desire to do a precise and thorough job
- Must be physically able to perform maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., etc.
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $40-45 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
