Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Procedure Execution: Perform specialized diagnostic nuclear medicine studies, obtaining diagnostic-quality images as ordered by physicians under general supervision.
- Radiopharmaceutical Administration: Measure, prepare, identify, and safely administer radioactive isotopes and prescribed substances within the technologist’s scope of practice.
- Patient Interaction: Review patient histories, explain procedures clearly to alleviate concerns, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the exam.
- Radiation Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict quality assurance practices and radiation protection protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission and federal/state regulations.
- Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic equipment maintenance, performance checks, and quality control routines.
- Documentation & Inventory: Maintain accurate medical records, logs, and electronic charts; manage consumable supply inventories to ensure continuous clinical readiness.
- Multidisciplinary Support: Assist in other areas of the imaging department as directed.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology [Required].
- Professional Certification: Active certification and registration through the ARRT (Nuclear Medicine) OR the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) [Required].
- Life Support: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification [Required].
