Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Reporting to plant leadership, you will manage plant environment, health, and safety programs to support safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible operations. You will lead the development and execution of a facility-wide safety and environmental culture by providing technical guidance, developing programs, and building strong partnerships across the plant. You will implement key safety and environmental concepts that support zero injuries, regulatory compliance, and sustainable performance while analyzing data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

 

A Taste of Your Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs at the plant
• Direct environmental compliance and performance activities in alignment with government regulations, company guidelines, and applicable environmental requirements
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of all required environmental reports
• Promote an accident-free work environment by developing programs that routinely train, monitor, and support safe work practices
• Plan and deliver training programs for managers and employees on workplace safety and environmental practices
• Support incident investigations and prepare reports required by regulatory agencies
• Conduct inspections and audits within the plant and at other facilities to identify existing or potential hazards and recommend corrective or preventive actions
• Facilitate the Central Safety Committee process through active participation and serve as a resource to subcommittees
• Administer initial workers’ compensation processes
• Guide the plant toward compliance with state, federal, and local safety and environmental regulations
• Determine and direct required compliance training to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and company requirements
• Analyze safety and environmental performance data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Partner with plant leadership to strengthen engagement, accountability, and ownership of environmental, health, and safety programs

 

Ingredients Required for Your Success

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field preferred
• Five or more years of industrial safety experience required
• Certified Safety Professional certification preferred
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience building and leading teams
• Thorough knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Transportation regulations
• Experience interpreting state and federal regulations and applying them to facility operations
• Experience preparing regulatory reports, business correspondence, and procedure documentation
• Experience performing risk assessments and audits
• Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing sound conclusions
• Experience interpreting technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagram form while managing multiple variables

 

Physical Requirements

• You may be required to walk around the facility, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, or perform repetitive tasks that require hand-eye coordination.
• You may be required to lift or carry materials that can vary in weight and size.
• This is a manufacturing environment with large, moving equipment. Noise levels can be high, and temperatures may vary.

Compensation 

Pay Range:$109,000-$159,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
