What You'll Do – Industrial Electrician
As an Industrial Electrician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, installing, and modifying electrical systems throughout a manufacturing facility. Your work will help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production machinery and plant equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and modify industrial electrical systems, equipment, and controls.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and operational problems affecting manufacturing machinery and production processes.
- Investigate equipment issues, identify root causes, and develop and implement corrective actions to restore reliable operation.
- Perform electrical maintenance, wiring, installation, and repairs on motors, switches, switch panels, fuse boxes, lighting systems, and power circuits.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical circuits and industrial power distribution systems.
- Work with Allen-Bradley control systems, PLC hardware and software, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other industrial automation components.
- Troubleshoot and maintain 4–20 mA instrumentation and control circuits.
- Work with 440-volt motor control centers (MCCs) and related industrial electrical equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, technical handbooks, specifications, and parts lists.
- Create, update, and maintain accurate electrical circuit layouts and documentation.
- Perform electrical inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.
- Support production and maintenance teams with electrical troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, including electrical safety practices and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a dependable, technically skilled electrician with strong electrical troubleshooting abilities and experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school certification or formal electrical training.
- Three or more years of experience working as an Electrician in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical systems.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley systems, PLC hardware and software, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, 4–20 mA circuits, and 440-volt motor control centers (MCCs).
- Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, specifications, and parts lists.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with maintenance and production teams.
Preferred Experience
Experience in the following areas is highly valued:
- Industrial Electrician or Maintenance Electrician.
- Manufacturing electrical maintenance.
- Allen-Bradley PLC troubleshooting and programming.
- Variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial motor controls.
- AC/DC electrical systems and industrial power distribution.
- Motor control centers (MCCs), electrical panels, and power circuits.
- Industrial automation, instrumentation, and 4–20 mA control circuits.
- Electrical wiring, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Electrical schematics, circuit layouts, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshooting high-speed production machinery and automated manufacturing equipment.
