Hiring Unit:
Department of Geography
Position Summary:
- Assist with lab research and collecting data from the following tasks:
- Preparation (drying, weighing and grinding) of soil samples for measurement of carbon content, stable isotope analyses and radiometric dating to determine rates of carbon sequestration
- May assist with subsampling from cores, use of a muffle furnace, measurement using a pXRF or gas chromatograph
- Assist with data entry and analysis
- Assist with preparing materials to be used in field experiments
- Assist with lab organization, maintenance and obtaining supplies
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- Must have eye for detail
- Ability to communicate in English
- Familiarity with Excel
Experience and Education:
- Preferred to be an undergraduate student enrolled in the Faculty of Science
