At our Salisbury location, we are a growing outpatient mental health center providing comprehensive mental health services to Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

As a Family Support Specialist at The Personal Wellness Center's Blooming Lotus Project, you will join an elite clinical team at the first expressive arts therapy Child and Adolescent Wellness Center on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Using a combination of the Montessori method and Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, the program meets children and adolescents in the way they learn best, allowing youth to engage with their inner and outer worlds with excitement and security. Through expressive arts and mindfulness, the Family Support Specialist helps youth build resilience, increase problem solving and coping skills, and express their emotions in healthy ways. This role manages an assigned caseload, working alongside clinicians and families to carry out each youth's clinical treatment plan through direct intervention, crisis intervention, and case management.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage an assigned caseload, collaborating with families to assess needs and implementing treatment interventions outlined in the youth's clinical treatment plan, including crisis intervention and case management.
• Work closely with assigned clinicians, utilizing community resources and services to support youth and families.
• Employ tools and activities from treatment plans to enhance behavioral, communication, coping, and problem solving skills in youth.
• Provide direct intervention to youth and families through techniques such as role playing, behavior modification, and crisis de-escalation.
• Adapt interventions to meet the specific needs and goals of each youth and family.
• Coach clients on how to manage their ongoing conditions, providing skills training and expressive techniques that help them develop positive behavioral changes.
• Collaborate with the Center's multidisciplinary holistic teams to provide excellence in client care, program offerings, and utilization of services.
• Document progress, maintain records, and ensure compliance with HIPAA security standards.
• Attend required training on evidence based practices and stay updated on industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to teach positive behavior and stress management, provide crisis intervention, and build strong rapport with families.
• Flexibility to adapt to the needs of youth and families, both independently and within a team.
• Knowledge of child development, positive parenting techniques, and available community resources.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mental health challenges, child development, personality development, and modalities of treatment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to appropriately meet client, diagnostic, business, and outside resource needs.
• Interest in providing services to children and adolescents is required.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English or Creole and English is preferred, but not required.
• Preferred: interest in offering support beyond individual appointments, such as workshops aligned with your areas of expertise or populations served, group sessions, community based workshops and programs, and community outreach.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related human services field from an accredited university.
• One year of clinical experience providing counseling and mental health services.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE:

• Valid and unencumbered driver's license, a dependable vehicle, and willingness to travel to various locations as required.
• Must be able to pass background check requirements in the State of Maryland.
