They will work across the full stack to deliver customer-specific solutions, integrations, and enhancements within Helm CONNECT. A key focus of this role will be supporting our Ports and Pilotage solutions, including berth allocation, pilot allocation, pilotage records, fatigue management integrations, and Work Rest workflows.

Your Mission

As a Software Developer on our Professional Services team, you will work across the full stack to deliver customer-specific solutions, integrations, and enhancements within Helm CONNECT.

A key focus of this role will be supporting our Ports and Pilotage solutions, including berth allocation, pilot allocation, pilotage records, fatigue management integrations, and Work Rest workflows.

You will take ownership of live, operationally critical customer integrations and help evolve successful implementation work into scalable solutions that can support ports and maritime operators around the world.

This is a hands-on development role where you will work closely with Professional Services, Product, QA, Support, and customers to understand operational challenges and turn them into reliable technical solutions.

You’ll also use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining the judgment, quality, and accountability expected of software running in mission-critical maritime environments.

You Are Responsible For

• Designing and building full-stack features, .NET microservices, integrations, and customer-specific solutions.
• Supporting pilotage, berth allocation, fatigue-management, Work Rest, and data migration workflows.
• Translating customer and business requirements into reliable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Troubleshooting issues across application, integration, and database layers while managing timelines and quality.
• Performing code reviews and upholding Helm’s development, security, and quality standards.
• Collaborating with Professional Services, Product, QA, Support, and Development through planning, delivery, and production support.
• Communicating progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers proactively.
• Documenting architecture, integrations, configurations, and operational runbooks in Confluence.
• Turning customer-specific solutions into reusable patterns where possible.
• Using AI tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor to accelerate development, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation while maintaining accountability for quality.

We’d Love to Chat If You Have

• 2+ years of related software development experience.
• A related bachelor’s degree, diploma, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience.
• Full-stack development experience.
• Experience with one or more strongly typed, object-oriented programming languages, with C# / .NET preferred.
• Experience with .NET Core, .NET 8, APIs, or microservice-based architectures.
• Experience with front-end technologies or frameworks, with Vue.js preferred.
• Knowledge of relational database management systems, with PostgreSQL preferred.
• Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• A broad technical skill set with demonstrated learning agility and intellectual curiosity.
• The ability to work effectively in an agile software development environment.
• The judgment and confidence to support live, customer-critical systems.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to sharing progress, raising concerns, and clarifying expectations.
• The ability to collaborate effectively across Development, Professional Services, Product, QA, Support, and customer-facing teams.
• Comfort working in an environment where customer needs, timelines, and priorities may evolve.
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability for the solutions you deliver.

Bonus Points If You Also Have

• Maritime industry knowledge.
• Experience working with ports, pilotage, vessel operations, scheduling, or maritime logistics.
• Experience building .NET microservices and APIs.
• Experience with constraint-solving, optimization, scheduling, or allocation problems.
• Experience integrating third-party systems, APIs, algorithms, or DLL-based engines.
• Experience with fatigue-management, biomathematical, or workforce-scheduling systems.
• Experience with data migration or complex customer implementation projects.
• Hands-on experience using Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or comparable AI development tools.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud technologies.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, or deployment workflows.
• Knowledge of usability and modern UI trends.
• A desire to continually learn new technologies, development practices, and ways of working.

• The role is 100% remote
• Flexible hours with overlap in core business time.
• Compensation with On-Target Earnings (OTE) of $88,000 - $100,000 CAD
• Base salary range: $75,000 – $90,000 CAD
• Target annual bonus based on individual and company performance
