Job Title

Business Analyst

About your role:

Reporting to the Programme Director and/or Programme Manager, the role of Business Analyst is to support client implementations, conversions and migration initiatives by gathering, analysing and documenting business and functional requirements in line with programme objectives and delivery needs.

Working closely with clients, internal Fiserv teams and third-party partners, the Business Analyst plays a key role in ensuring that business needs are clearly understood, translated into structured functional requirements and aligned to solution capabilities, operational processes and target-state outcomes.

The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting analysis activities across the full project lifecycle, from initial requirements definition and current-state assessment through functional documentation, testing support, go-live readiness and transition to BAU. The role acts as a critical link between business stakeholders, subject matter experts, implementation teams, product, technology and testing teams to help ensure that solutions are delivered in line with business, operational and technical requirements.

Within this context, the role requires a solid understanding of issuing and card-processing environments, including client servicing, operational processes and the impacts of migrating from legacy platforms to modern target solutions.

What you’ll do:

  • Leading business and functional requirements discussions with clients, internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, validate and document project needs.

  • Analysing current-state and target-state processes to identify functional gaps, operational impacts, dependencies and areas requiring clarification or design decisions.

  • Defining and documenting business requirements, functional requirements, process flows, business rules, user stories and other supporting analysis artefacts.

  • Translating business needs into clear, structured and actionable functional requirements for implementation, product, technology and testing teams.

  • Supporting solution definition activities by working closely with SMEs, implementation teams, product teams and technical teams to assess options and recommend appropriate functional approaches.

  • Producing and maintaining analysis documentation across the project lifecycle, including requirements packs, functional specifications, gap analysis, decision logs and process documentation.

  • Developing and maintaining requirements traceability to ensure approved requirements, changes and decisions are tracked and aligned to delivery outcomes.

  • Supporting the documentation of the overall functional approach, including impacts to client processes, operational models, controls and target-state solution design.

  • Identifying, analysing, researching and resolving functional queries raised by internal teams, clients and third-party partners.

  • Supporting impact assessments related to process changes, regulatory and compliance requirements, operational readiness and implementation activities.

  • Working closely with issuing, card-processing and operational stakeholders to ensure that business priorities, processing requirements and client expectations are clearly understood and reflected in the solution.

  • Supporting readiness activities by ensuring that requirements, process impacts, decisions and functional dependencies are clearly understood by all relevant stakeholders.

  • Acting as a key liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams throughout the implementation lifecycle, ensuring clear communication and alignment at all stages.

Execution & Controls

  • Managing and maintaining business analysis deliverables in accordance with established Fiserv governance, standards and project methodology.

  • Supporting the planning, prioritisation and delivery of business analysis activities in line with project milestones, implementation phases and delivery timelines.

  • Ensuring that requirements are reviewed, validated, approved and baselined in line with agreed governance processes.

  • Tracking requirement changes, open points, assumptions, dependencies and key decisions throughout the lifecycle of the project.

  • Supporting the creation and maintenance of functional documentation required for implementation, testing, readiness and go-live activities.

  • Working with implementation, product, technology and testing teams to ensure requirements are fully understood and correctly translated into solution design and delivery outputs.

  • Supporting testing activities by reviewing test scenarios, validating coverage against requirements and assisting with defect analysis, functional clarifications and issue resolution.

  • Supporting user acceptance testing, operational readiness assessments and go-live preparation from a functional and business process perspective.

  • Participating in governance meetings, status reviews, workshops and working sessions to provide updates on analysis progress, requirement status, key decisions and unresolved issues.

  • Escalating risks, issues, requirement gaps or delivery concerns to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely and structured manner.

  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with clients, internal teams and third parties on requirements, impacts, decisions and functional changes.

  • Supporting implementation events and critical project milestones by providing functional expertise and analysis support where required.

Closeout & Transition

  • Confirming that business and functional requirements have been delivered, validated and transitioned appropriately into implementation, testing, warranty and BAU support processes.

  • Supporting the completion of final documentation and ensuring that approved requirements, decisions and analysis artefacts are archived appropriately.

  • Assisting with the review of implementation outcomes, requirement coverage, defects and lessons learned to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensuring that outstanding functional queries, requirement gaps or follow-up actions are tracked through to closure or transitioned appropriately into warranty and BAU support processes.

  • Contributing to post-implementation reviews and Lessons Learned activities where applicable.

Experience you’ll need to have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with professional proficiency in both English and Italian.

  • Working knowledge of issuing, card-processing and payments operations, with an understanding of how business requirements translate into processing and operational outcomes.

  • Subject Matter Expert / Business Analyst experience in one or more of the following areas strongly preferred: Regulatory, Compliance, Payment Schemes, Card Processing, Customer Correspondence, Fulfillment, Collections, Risk/Fraud, Disputes, Chargebacks, Retrievals, Testing, Consumer Finance, Credit Cards, Loans, Debit Cards and Retail Cards.

  • Significant proven experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, functional analysis or solution analysis roles, within the Financial Services industry, in the Cards and Payments sector; experience in card and/or payment processing environments is preferred (6-10 years).

  • Proven experience supporting and/or leading business analysis activities for medium to large client-facing implementations, conversions or migration initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and workstreams.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Business Analysis certification or equivalent professional training preferred.

  • Experience in issuing, card-processing or broader consumer finance environments strongly preferred.

  • Experience supporting migrations from legacy platforms to modern processing platforms.

  • Experience working on multi-country programmes and complex client delivery initiatives.

  • Exposure to regulatory, operational or processing change initiatives within issuing environments preferred.

Salary starting at €60,300 - negotiable depending on experience
