Job Description:
The Staff Accountant will play an important role in keeping Convive Brands' accounting operations accurate, efficient, and moving forward. Working closely with the Accounting and FP&A teams, you'll support daily accounting activities while helping us continue to improve and streamline our month-end close process.
This is an opportunity to do more than maintain existing processes. You'll build your accounting skills across areas such as banking, accruals, allocations, and balance sheet reconciliations while working with partners across the Support Center. As Convive continues to grow, including the acquisition of California Pizza Kitchen, you'll have opportunities to contribute to new processes, intercompany accounting, financial consolidation, and other projects that will shape how our growing organization operates.
You'll join a collaborative accounting team where questions are encouraged, ideas are welcomed, and your work can have a visible impact. For someone who wants to deepen their accounting knowledge while gaining exposure to a growing, multi-brand restaurant company, this role offers meaningful opportunities to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
Build and post accurate journal entries that support timely and reliable financial reporting.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
Support the month-end close process by preparing accruals, allocations, and other accounting entries needed to meet our close timeline.
Analyze account activity and prepare flux analysis to help identify and explain changes in financial results.
Partner with teams across FP&A, People, IT, and Operations to gather information and resolve accounting items efficiently.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and help shorten the month-end close.
Research accounting questions and ad hoc requests to provide accurate information and support business decisions.
Support year-end financial reporting and audits by preparing schedules and gathering required documentation.
What Success Looks Like
During your first year, you'll become a reliable partner to the Accounting team and take increasing ownership of key accounting processes.
Success in this role means you:
Build confidence and accuracy in preparing journal entries, accruals, allocations, and reconciliations.
Help the team move toward a more efficient 10-business-day month-end close.
Develop a strong understanding of the reasons behind the accounting processes you manage—not just how to complete them.
Build productive relationships with cross-functional partners and effectively follow up on information needed for close.
Identify opportunities to simplify or improve existing processes and take action to help implement them.
Continue expanding your accounting knowledge and take on increasingly complex responsibilities as your skills develop.
The strongest performers in this role are curious, ask thoughtful questions, take initiative, and look for ways to make the work better. They don't simply complete an assigned task—they want to understand the bigger picture and how their work contributes to the team's success.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Demonstrated understanding of fundamental accounting principles, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and cost allocations.
Experience using Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and work with financial information.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate financial reporting.
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional partners.
Curiosity and initiative to ask questions, learn existing processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in hospitality, restaurants, food & beverage, or another multi-unit business environment.
Experience at a Big Four accounting firm or in a structured accounting environment.
Experience with Workday or other financial/accounting systems.
Experience with Google Workspace, including Google Sheets and Gmail.
Familiarity with restaurant technology or POS systems, such as Toast.
Interest in using emerging technology and AI tools to improve efficiency and how work gets done.
Career Growth
This role is designed to provide a strong foundation for continued growth in accounting.
You'll work alongside an experienced Accounting and FP&A team and gain exposure to a broad range of accounting activities rather than being limited to one area. You'll have opportunities to deepen your skills in areas such as accruals, allocations, capital accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
As Convive Brands continues to grow, including the integration of California Pizza Kitchen, you'll also have the opportunity to participate in new processes and projects involving intercompany accounting, financial consolidation, and process development.
Because Convive operates with a collaborative Support Center structure, you'll have opportunities to build relationships across Finance, Operations, People, IT, and other teams—and learn directly from accounting leaders and business partners. For someone building an accounting career, this role can provide a strong foundation for taking on greater responsibility as the company and your expertise grow.
The salary range for this is role is: $65,000–$80,000. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and relevant accounting expertise, with candidates possessing highly relevant experience considered toward the higher end of the range.
