What We Want

The Utilities Engineer is responsible for providing day to day support to operations and maintenance of electrical utility production and distribution.

What You Need To Know

Salary Range: $75,012.00 - $114,131.00

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Five years of experience in design, maintenance, or operation of electrical power systems. 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Must have a  EIT Certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with principles involved in electrical distribution systems, SCADA, relaying & controls, medium voltage equipment and medium voltage testing, system modeling.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic emphasis in power distribution and control systems.

  • Experience in maintaining automated building operation control systems in a multi-facility campus or university setting.

  • Experience in air and water balance of HVAC systems.

  • Professional Engineer certification.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and Analyze- Monitors plant systems, analyzes performance, initiates action for optimization and participates in process improvement efforts to achieve plant goals for safety productivity and efficiency. This may require driving a university vehicle to various plant facilities on campus.

  • Technical Resource- Provides technical expertise in support of capital projects, process evaluation, and equipment modification. Manages contractors and coordinates maintenance staff during project installations. Maintains all logic and PLC programs, install switches, and performs maintenance on the network as needed.

  • Analysis and Design-Performs analysis, detailed design (including documentation), capital request preparation, installation, startup/checkout/debugging, and cost control of assigned projects.

  • Departmental Objectives & Safety- Contributes to a safe work environment by reporting accidents and unsafe working conditions, uses proper personal protective equipment, follows safety procedures outlined in Material Safety Data Sheets, and participates in safety training. Committed to continuously improving the quality and value of service provided to our customers.
