Description
Who we are 🌍Â
We’re IAG Loyalty, one organisation with two ambitious divisions across Loyalty and Holidays. Each has its own goals, strategy and team, but together we're united by a shared vision: to create a more rewarding world of travel and experiences.Â
Our Loyalty division is home to Avios, one of the world's leading travel rewards currencies. Millions of people collect Avios, then use them for rewards such as flights, cabin upgrades, hotel stays and other travel experiences.Â
Our Holidays division, including British Airways Holidays, connects customers to thousands of destinations worldwide through seamless, end-to-end travel experiences. We're on an exciting journey of growth and transformation, creating smarter ways to reward travellers and shape the future of loyalty.Â
The opportunity ✨Â
Turn data into decisions that shape how customers use Avios.Â
You’ll support the ways customers use Avios to book travel, working with airlines including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Vueling, as well as British Airways Holidays. Your main focus will be on Avios redemption products, including Pay with Avios and Reward Flights, which enable customers to use their Avios towards flights and holidays. You’ll help inform how many Avios customers use, the cash saving they receive and the combinations they can choose from when booking.Â
You’ll tackle questions with a clear commercial purpose: which payment options encourage bookings? What could a promotion deliver? Why has performance changed, and what should we do next? Using SQL and Excel for analysis and modelling, you’ll turn data into recommendations that support both day-to-day decisions and longer-term pricing strategies.Â
You won’t simply hand over a report. You’ll work closely with commercial colleagues and airline partners to discuss your findings, recommend action and review the results. It’s an opportunity to build on your technical strengths, develop your commercial judgement and see how your analysis influences what happens next.Â
The work is varied: you’ll balance current performance tracking with forward-looking plans, and investigate the different factors behind changes in results. Success means producing reliable analysis, explaining differences between forecasts and actual performance, and helping colleagues decide what to do next.Â
What you’ll doÂ
- Help shape pricing across airline partners. Analyse different combinations of Avios and cash, suggest changes to customer payment options and support A/B tests to understand how customers respond. Work with Data Science to improve testing capability and help implement successful changes.Â
- Forecast and evaluate promotions. Model expected bookings, Avios spent and investment, then compare results with forecasts. Work with colleagues to understand the margin impact of activity.Â
- Own reporting that informs decisions. Produce weekly performance updates, develop new reports and improve existing ones. Explain what is driving changes, considering customer behaviour and external factors alongside pricing activity.Â
- Build expertise in the data. Use SQL and Excel to analyse customer and booking data, model scenarios and investigate commercial questions. Check that outputs make sense, identify quality issues and work with Data teams to resolve them.Â
- Turn findings into action. Present clear recommendations to both technical and non technical audiences and work with Pricing, Product, Finance, Data, Data Science, Commercial colleagues and airline partners towards shared customer and commercial goals.Â
- Bring ideas for improvement. Research pricing approaches within and outside travel and loyalty, identifying opportunities to improve the options customers use to spend their Avios.Â
What you’ll bringÂ
- Strong SQL skills and experience extracting, analysing and validating large datasets from different sources.Â
- Strong Excel skills for analysis, forecasting and scenario modelling.Â
- Commercial thinking: you can explain why an analysis matters, what decision it informs and what action you recommend.Â
- Accuracy and sound judgement: you question results and check whether outputs make sense, including when using AI-supported queries.Â
- Clear communication and influencing skills: you can tell a story with data, explain complex findings and present actionable recommendations to external and non-technical stakeholders.Â
- Curiosity and initiative: you proactively investigate customer behaviour and performance, explore new ideas and learn from testing them.Â
- A collaborative, adaptable approach: you build relationships across teams, understand colleagues’ needs and balance regular reporting with projects, experiments and campaigns.Â
You don’t need a background in aviation, loyalty or pricing. We welcome candidates from other sectors who can demonstrate strong analytical fundamentals and connect their work to commercial outcomes, including those earlier in their careers. Familiarity with a visualisation tool such as Tableau or Power BI would also be useful.Â
What you’ll get from the roleÂ
- Proximity to commercial decisions. Work directly with the teams deciding pricing and promotions, contributing to the conversations where your findings become action.Â
- Visibility of your impact. Follow your analysis from the initial question through to a recommendation and its outcome, seeing how changes affect bookings and commercial performance.Â
- Broader analytical and commercial experience. Build hands-on skills in experimentation, forecasting and pricing, alongside an understanding of commercial strategy and financial planning.Â
- Ownership within a relatively small team. Take responsibility for reporting and analysis, contribute your ideas and potentially take on a specific product area.Â
- Experience working with airline partners. Develop your stakeholder management and influencing skills by turning complex analysis into clear recommendations for different audiences.Â
