Security Officer

Location: Grand Junction, CO 81501
Employment Type: Part-Time
Pay: $17.50 per hour
Schedule: Friday - Sunday | 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM
 

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is seeking a reliable Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer to provide weekend evening coverage in Grand Junction. The officer will help maintain a safe and orderly environment through routine patrols, attentive observation, customer assistance, and professional communication with employees and other authorized individuals.

This position requires someone who can work independently, interact comfortably with the public, and remain composed when addressing unexpected or challenging situations.
 

Duties & Responsibilities

Patrol and Observation

• Perform regular foot patrols throughout assigned interior areas.
• Check designated exterior areas and surrounding spaces during scheduled rounds.
• Maintain an alert and professional presence throughout the assignment.
• Observe for suspicious behavior, damage, hazards, disturbances, or other unusual conditions.
• Report concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor or designated personnel.
• Follow all post orders, assignment instructions, and company procedures.
• Maintain awareness of changing conditions throughout the shift.
   

Customer & Employee Assistance

• Respond courteously when customers or other individuals request assistance.
• Communicate respectfully with customers, employees, and authorized personnel.
• Support employees when security-related concerns arise.
• Provide a calm and approachable presence throughout the assignment.
• Listen carefully to questions or complaints and respond within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
• Build positive working relationships with designated personnel.
• Maintain professionalism during all public interactions.
   

Incident Response & De-Escalation

• Address minor disturbances using respectful and controlled communication.
• Use appropriate verbal de-escalation techniques when interacting with upset or frustrated individuals.
• Recognize circumstances that require supervisor, emergency, or law-enforcement assistance.
• Follow established procedures when responding to security-related incidents.
• Maintain composure and exercise sound judgment during unexpected events.
• Avoid unnecessary escalation and communicate relevant information promptly.
   

Documentation & Shift Communication

• Complete required daily activity reports accurately and on time.
• Record incidents, unusual observations, and other relevant security activity.
• Provide supervisors and designated personnel with timely updates when concerns arise.
• Keep reports factual, organized, and consistent with company requirements.
• Protect confidential information encountered while performing assigned duties.
• Communicate important shift information during required handoffs.
   

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Reliable attendance and consistent punctuality.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with members of the public.
• Strong observation and situational-awareness abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult interactions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently with appropriate communication to supervisors.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous security experience.
• Customer service or other public-facing experience.
• Experience working with difficult, frustrated, or upset individuals.
• Familiarity with incident reports and daily activity logs.
• Background in conflict resolution or verbal de-escalation.
• Strong practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience working independently with limited direct supervision.
