Schedule: Friday - Saturday | 8:00 PM - 3:00 AM
Guard Card: Must be Eligible for Iowa Guard Card
 

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is looking for a dependable Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer to provide overnight weekend coverage in Ankeny. The officer will help maintain a secure, orderly, and comfortable environment by conducting routine patrols, completing designated closing procedures, responding to concerns, and assisting individuals when needed.

This position is well suited for someone who remains alert during late-night hours, communicates professionally, and can handle routine responsibilities independently.
 

Key Responsibilities

Patrol & Security Checks

• Conduct regular patrols of assigned hallways and interior areas.
• Perform scheduled checks of parking areas and surrounding exterior spaces.
• Watch for unusual activity, safety concerns, property issues, or unauthorized access.
• Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the shift.
• Report security concerns or unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow all post orders, company procedures, and assignment-specific instructions.
   

Closing & Area Security

• Complete designated lock-up procedures for assigned recreational and common-use areas.
• Secure doors, access points, and designated spaces according to established procedures.
• Confirm assigned areas are properly secured before leaving them unattended.
• Report doors, locks, equipment, or other conditions that cannot be properly secured.
   

Guest Assistance & Incident Response

• Respond professionally to noise complaints and other routine concerns.
• Listen to guest needs and provide assistance within the scope of the security assignment.
• Communicate calmly and respectfully when addressing disturbances or disagreements.
• Use appropriate verbal de-escalation techniques when situations become tense.
• Request supervisor or emergency assistance when a situation exceeds the officer’s responsibilities.
• Maintain composure and sound judgment during unexpected situations.
   

Reporting & Communication

• Complete required daily activity logs and incident documentation.
• Record patrol activity, complaints, unusual occurrences, and security concerns accurately.
• Communicate relevant information to supervisors or designated personnel.
• Ensure reports are factual, clear, and completed according to company requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding security-related information.
   

Required Qualifications

• Must be eligible to obtain or hold an Iowa Guard Card.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain alert and attentive during overnight hours.
• Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
• Professional appearance, conduct, and attitude.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to remain calm when handling complaints or unexpected situations.
• Ability to successfully complete required background and employment screening.
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous security or patrol experience.
• Customer service or public-facing experience.
• Experience conducting overnight patrols.
• Familiarity with incident reports and daily activity logs.
• Experience responding to noise complaints or other routine disturbances.
• Previous experience performing closing, lock-up, or access-control procedures.
• Strong conflict-resolution and verbal de-escalation skills.
