- Maintains park playgrounds by inspecting playground and equipment, determining maintenance needs, performing preventative maintenance, making necessary repairs, maintaining fall zone and replacing worn and defective items.
- Provides various administrative services including maintaining records of tasks performed, completing paper work, filing work orders, basic computer knowledge, and ordering materials as needed.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- High School diploma or equivalent with six (6) months of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency plus one (1) year of relevant experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Safe driving record and Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License
- Clear criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Possess or able to obtain a Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certification (CPSI) within one (1) year of employment. Certification must remain valid for the duration of employment.
Hours/Work Schedule
- This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits.
- Work schedule is Monday - Thursday 6am-4:30pm.
- Schedule maybe modified if department needs arise.
- May be required to work overtime if needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position is classified as Very Heavy and requires the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these functions. Typical physical demands include:
- Constant physical activity including lifting, carrying, climbing, or prolonged standing.
- Exerting over 100 lbs. occasionally, 50-100 lbs. frequently, or up to 20-50 lbs. constantly.
- Lifting/carrying 50–75+ lbs; frequent pushing/pulling.
- High manual dexterity and mobility required.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
- Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
- Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
- Receives general directions. The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. The employee may choose the appropriate procedure or policy. Performance is reviewed periodically.
- Work involves choices of action within limits set by standard practices and procedures. Professional judgment is required to apply the proper course of action.
