Fleet Manager
Lead a team that keeps our fleet safe, reliable, and ready for the road.
We are seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations of the terminal shop while ensuring company equipment is maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. This role provides leadership to shop personnel, coordinates maintenance activities with operations, and helps maximize fleet reliability through effective planning, preventive maintenance, and quality repairs.
What you'll do
Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the terminal shop
Supervise, coach, and develop shop personnel
Ensure preventive maintenance and necessary repairs are completed on company equipment in a timely manner
Coordinate maintenance activities with operations to support daily service requirements
Maintain and service shop equipment, including cleaning rack equipment
Manage parts inventory to support timely fleet repairs
Maintain accurate electronic maintenance records and close repair orders within 24 hours of completion
Schedule shop personnel to ensure adequate staffing during peak service hours
Perform required federal and state vehicle inspections and ensure equipment is properly documented
Ensure maintenance practices align with company standards and current fleet maintenance procedures
Maintain maintenance records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and promote a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
Ensure shop personnel receive appropriate training for assigned responsibilities
Read and interpret technical manuals, maintenance documentation, and regulatory information
Perform other duties as assigned
What we're looking for
Five or more years of heavy truck maintenance experience
Strong leadership and team development skills
Administrative and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High degree of computer literacy
Preferred qualifications
Experience with a fleet or maintenance business management system
Strong process orientation
Experience leading maintenance teams in a transportation or heavy equipment environment
Leadership responsibility
This position has direct supervisory responsibility for hourly and salaried fleet personnel.
Work environment and physical requirements
This position works primarily in an indoor shop and office environment, with occasional indoor and outdoor activity. The role involves mostly sitting and walking, minimal lifting up to 20 pounds, and the ability to speak, hear, and see clearly for the responsibilities of the position.
