Description

At Accenture Federal Services, nothing matters more than helping the US federal government make the nation stronger and safer and life better for people. Our 13,000+ people are united in a shared purpose to pursue the limitless potential of technology and ingenuity for clients across defense, national security, public safety, civilian, and military health organizations.

Join Accenture Federal Services, a technology company within global Accenture. Recognized as a Glassdoor Top 100 Best Place to Work, we offer a collaborative and caring community where you feel like you belong and are empowered to grow, learn and thrive through hands-on experience, certifications, industry training and more.

Join us to drive positive, lasting change that moves missions and the government forward!

AFS delivery teams build and modernize mission-critical systems for defense, intelligence, civilian, and public health clients — increasingly on Google's stack, spanning Google Cloud Platform (GCP) commercial regions and Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) for edge, on-prem, and air-gapped/disconnected mission environments. As a Mid-Level Full Stack Engineer, you will sit inside a client-facing delivery team, owning features end-to-end from Google-native backend services and data layers through the user-facing interface. You'll work in fast-moving, security-conscious environments where clean architecture, disciplined testing, and clear communication with government stakeholders matter as much as code quality.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who has shipped production software on Google's platform before and is ready to take ownership of significant pieces of a system with less day-to-day oversight, including applications that must run consistently across GCP commercial cloud and GDC edge/air-gapped deployments.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and maintain full stack features across frontend, backend, APIs, and data layers for federal client applications built on Google Cloud Platform and Google Distributed Cloud
  • Develop backend services using Google-native compute (Cloud Run, App Engine, Cloud Functions, GKE) and integrate with managed data services (Firestore, Cloud SQL, Spanner, BigQuery)
  • Build responsive, accessible frontends (Angular, React, or Vue) that consume APIs built on Google Cloud
  • Design applications to run consistently across GCP commercial regions and Google Distributed Cloud edge/air-gapped deployments, accounting for connectivity, latency, and data residency constraints unique to disconnected environments
  • Translate mission requirements and user stories into technical designs, working directly with product owners, architects, and government stakeholders
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate actively in code reviews, raising the bar for the team
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy) and automated testing strategies for deployment across both commercial and edge/GDC environments
  • Debug and resolve production issues, including performance bottlenecks and integration failures across the stack
  • Partner with UX/design, DevOps, and security teams to ensure solutions meet accessibility, performance, and ATO/compliance requirements across FedRAMP and Assured Workloads boundaries
  • Document technical decisions, architecture diagrams, and runbooks to support long-term maintainability and knowledge transfer
  • Adapt quickly as mission priorities shift, balancing new feature delivery with technical debt and system stability

What You Bring

Ownership Under Ambiguity: You take a vague requirement and turn it into a working system without needing every detail spelled out. You surface risks and trade-offs early, make reasoned technical calls, and keep moving.

Craft & Rigor: You care about code quality, test coverage, and maintainability — not because a process demands it, but because you've seen what happens when systems aren't built that way. You review others' work as carefully as your own.

Clear Communication Across Audiences: You can explain a technical trade-off to an architect and a delivery status to a government program manager in the same afternoon, adjusting depth and language for each.

Steady Under Pressure: Federal environments come with constraints — legacy systems, security reviews, shifting requirements, and the added complexity of building for both connected cloud and disconnected edge deployments. You stay composed, adapt your approach, and keep the team moving forward.

What You Need

Non-Negotiable

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 4 years of professional experience building and shipping full stack web applications
  • Hands-on experience building applications on Google Cloud Platform, using services such as Cloud Run, App Engine, Cloud Functions, GKE, Firestore, Cloud SQL, or BigQuery
  • Proficiency with at least one modern frontend framework (Angular, React, or Vue) and one backend language/framework (Node.js, Java/Spring, Python/Django/Flask, or Go)
  • Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, API design, and secure coding practices
  • Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (unit, integration)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) for edge, on-prem, or air-gapped/disconnected deployments, and an understanding of how application design differs between commercial cloud and GDC environments
  • Experience delivering software within federal, DoD, or other highly regulated environments (FISMA, NIST 800-53, ATO processes, FedRAMP High/DoD IL boundaries, Assured Workloads)
  • Google Cloud certification
    • Professional Cloud Developer
    • Associate Cloud Engineer
    • Professional Cloud Architect)
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams with government or enterprise stakeholders
  • Exposure to accessibility standards (Section 508/WCAG) and secure SDLC practices
  • Prior client-facing consulting experience
  • Experience integrating Google AI/ML capabilities (Vertex AI, Gemini API) into full stack applications
  • Experience architecting applications for hybrid connectivity patterns (sync/replication strategies between GDC edge nodes and GCP commercial regions)

Clearance

  • An active TS/SCI security clearance is required
