FanDuel is looking to add a Senior Counsel for Regulatory Engagement to its legal team with 5+ years of legal experience to manage investigations, enforcement actions, and engage with regulators in this exciting, expanding field.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

 

THE GAME PLAN

This position will work with a fantastic team of legal and regulatory professionals working to engage FanDuel’s regulators for all products across the United States and Canada and assist with FanDuel’s continued innovation of those products. Reporting to FanDuel’s Director of Regulatory Engagement, this role will join a sophisticated team of experts and will:

  • Manage investigations involving regulatory inquiries, incidents, and escalated customer complaints regarding responsible gaming, integrity, fraud and payments, marketing, risk and trading, account management, and other areas of regulatory interest
  • Own all necessary documentation, auditing, controls, metrics, and reporting related to these matters
  • Partner with internal operations teams to enable seamless integration of all relevant regulatory obligations, transparency, and controls
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders across FanDuel’s business lines for horizon scanning and to address potential regulatory issues proactively
  • Assist with FanDuel’s engagement and relationship with regulators and Market Access Partners in states where FanDuel operates regulated products
  • Provide legal analysis and regulatory guidance to internal FanDuel team members regarding state regulatory requirements for FanDuel’s products, third-party subpoena requests, search warrants, garnishments, and liens

 

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • JD from a top law school and member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, primarily focused on investigations or regulatory enforcement, preferably including experience at a state regulatory or enforcement body
  • Experience engaging and advocating with regulators, including with mandatory reporting requirements, with prior gaming experience a plus
  • Strong aptitude for legal research, problem-solving, policy analysis, and advocacy, preferably in an evolving or new area of the law
  • Excellent verbal, written, and strategic communication skills and an ability to collaborate effectively across external and internal stakeholders
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to being an exceptional team player who rolls up their sleeves;
  • Desire to work hard in a fast-paced, start-up environment, where thinking outside the box is encouraged

  • In-house experience in a highly regulated industry or at high-growth technology company
  • Experience with developing new processes and procedures, data analytics, and reporting to senior business leaders. 

 

Once hired, the senior Counsel for Regulatory may be required to obtain state gaming  licenses from various jurisdictions in order to represent FanDuel before regulators.

The applicable salary range for this position is $146,000.00 - $182,000.00 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
