Senior QA Engineer (Mobile Applications & IoT)

Miele Tehnica is a subsidiary of Miele & Cie. KG, Germany. We produce electronic components for a wide range of Miele appliances, including washing machines, tumble dryers, vacuum cleaners, and ovens. We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer based in Brasov, to help ensure the quality of our iOS and Android applications. In this role, you will take ownership of complex testing activities, investigate technical issues, identify quality risks, and improve testing practices.

You will collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and international teams, combining hands-on testing expertise with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, design, and execute functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end tests for iOS and Android applications.
• Review requirements, identify potential quality risks, and contribute to clear acceptance criteria.
• Ensure appropriate test coverage for complex features involving mobile applications, connected devices, cloud services, and backend systems.
• Perform hands-on manual testing and execute existing automated test suites, analyzing results and investigating failures.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to device connectivity, communication, data synchronization, and system integration.
• Assess testing results, communicate quality risks, and provide recommendations to support release decisions.
• Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve defects.
• Propose and implement improvements to testing processes, tools, and overall test effectiveness.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve test analysis, defect investigation, and testing efficiency.
• Share knowledge, support colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement within the QA team.

Key job requirements:

• At least 5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance, with focus on mobile application testing for iOS and/or Android.
• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, test design techniques, defect management, and risk-based testing.
• Solid hands-on experience with manual, exploratory, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience with mobile debugging tools, application logs, and network analysis.
• Good understanding of client-server architectures, APIs, and backend integrations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional development teams.
• Familiarity with AI tools and their practical application in software testing.
• Ability to independently manage testing activities, assess risks, and contribute to technical decisions.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
• Good written and spoken English.

Nice to have:

• Experience testing IoT products, connected devices, or smart home applications.
• Knowledge of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and device connectivity protocols.
• Familiarity with mobile automation frameworks such as Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest.
• Experience executing automated tests, analyzing results, and investigating failures.
• Experience with API testing, CI/CD pipelines, and automated test reporting.
• Experience testing device pairing, firmware updates, connectivity recovery, and synchronization.
• Knowledge of mobile performance, accessibility, or security testing.
• Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Sentry.
• German language skills.

Education:

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience in software quality assurance.
