About Able Innovations:
Bring transformative healthcare robotics into hospitals.
Able Innovations is developing technology that is changing how patients are moved through healthcare environments. We work alongside hospitals and healthcare teams to improve workflows, support caregivers, and create better experiences for patients. We are at the stage where the technology is proven and the work is getting it adopted, deployed, and expanded.
About the role:
We are looking for a high-energy, exceptionally organized Business Development Specialist who wants to play a meaningful role in our next stage of growth. This is the person who makes our commercial engine run day to day.
You will work across sales, partnerships, customer success, strategic applications, and on-site hospital activities. One week, you may be developing a proposal or managing a major grant submission. Next, you may be travelling to a hospital to support a demonstration, customer deployment, training session, or executive meeting.
You will have the opportunity to work directly with company leadership, healthcare customers, and strategic partners while developing broad experience across healthcare commercialization.
This is not a traditional desk-based sales position.
What you will gain:
- Broad exposure to sales, partnerships, grants, and healthcare commercialization;
- Direct interaction with customers, healthcare professionals, and executives;
- High ownership and meaningful responsibility;
- Opportunity to see your work impact real hospital environments;
- Potential pathway into account ownership or senior commercial roles;
- A dynamic role with travel, variety, and growth opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Build relationships and create new opportunities:
Able's approach is built around long-term partnerships rather than transactional sales. Team members are expected to understand each partner's workflows, goals, and challenges and look for ways to deliver lasting value.
- Research and qualify prospective customers, strategic partners, funding programs, and new market opportunities.
- Support outreach to hospitals, clinical leaders, executives, distributors, and industry partners.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders at every level, from frontline healthcare professionals to senior executives.
- Coordinate sales meetings, product demonstrations, site visits, conferences, and follow-up activities.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, quotations, customer materials, and partnership documents.
- Keep opportunities moving by ensuring that follow-ups, commitments, and next steps are completed.
- Maintain accurate and current information in CRM and project-tracking systems.
- Own important applications and proposals:
Attention to detail is critical. Every external deliverable should reflect a high standard of professionalism and accuracy.
- Lead and coordinate government funding, procurement, partnership, and innovation-program from intake through submission.
- Maintain a live calendar of submission deadlines, required materials, reporting obligations, and milestones.
- Gather and organize input from commercial, finance, engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
- Draft, edit, and submit clear, accurate, and compelling applications and supporting documents.
- Build and maintain a library of company information, evidence, and reusable content.
- Support reporting and milestone tracking for successful applications.
- Get into the field:
On-site work is a core part of this role. Able supports customers through the full lifecycle-from planning and implementation to training and expansion.
- Travel to customer and partner locations throughout North America.
- Support hospital demonstrations, deployments, evaluations, training sessions, conferences, and customer meetings.
- Coordinate on-site schedules, equipment, documentation, logistics, and internal resources.
- Gather field observations and customer feedback and communicate them clearly to internal teams.
- Identify barriers to adoption and opportunities to improve customer workflows.
- Represent Able Innovations with professionalism, energy, curiosity, and good judgment.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years in a customer-facing commercial role - business development, sales, partnerships, customer success, or account management;
- Post-secondary education in business, health sciences, engineering, or a related field;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- Strong organizational and time-management skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Outgoing, confident, and professional personality;
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels;
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks;
- Comfort operating in an early-stage fast-paced environment where plans change and scope is not always defined;
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines without supervision and without dropping commitments;
- Valid G2/G driver's license;
- Ability to travel across Canada and the United States without restrictions;
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including short notice.
Bonus / Nice-to-have Skills:
- Experience with grants, proposals, or government funding applications;
- Experience in healthcare, medical technology, or B2B environments;
- Experience supporting customer deployments, demos, or training;
- Familiarity with CRM or project management tools.
You will be successful if:
- Opportunities are actively progressing and well organized;
- Applications and proposals are high quality and submitted on time;
- Customer interactions are professional, responsive, and well coordinated;
- Field activities are executed smoothly and documented clearly;
- Internal teams have visibility into commitments and next steps;
- You build trust with customers and partners;
- You proactively identify opportunities to add value.
Application Requirements:
