Business Development Specialist
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Business Development Specialist who is self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and a broad understanding of heavy engineering, materials handling, equipment interactions, and project scheduling. This role is key to supporting business growth and driving expansion into the African market.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new mining projects, plant expansions, and equipment replacement opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with mine management, project engineers, consultants, and EPC firms.
- Map client organisations and identify key decision-makers.
- Maintain a structured sales pipeline with accurate opportunity qualification.
- Engage clients early to influence project specifications and technical requirements.
- Analyse client process data, geological information, and throughput requirements.
- Develop compliant equipment selections and system configurations.
- Assess technical feasibility and ensure site compatibility.
- Identify technical risks and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and support costed proposals aligned with margin objectives.
- Present value propositions based on CAPEX, OPEX, and lifecycle cost savings.
- Support technical discussions during commercial negotiations.
- Contribute to revenue growth, order conversion, and sales targets.
- Deliver technical presentations to engineering, procurement, and operational stakeholders.
- Lead or support technical site assessments and client visits.
- Ensure seamless handover from sales to project execution teams.
- Provide market intelligence and technical feedback to management.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement.
- Represent the company at industry expos, conferences, and networking events.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BEng in Mechanical, Mining, Process Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the mining or heavy industrial equipment sector.
- Proven ability to identify, develop, and close capital equipment sales opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen, including lifecycle costing and financial evaluation.
- Experience working within African mining environments is advantageous.

- Valid Code B driver's licence.
- Valid passport.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally.
