We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Asset Finance (Shipping) practice in Singapore. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team on a broad range of ship finance and offshore transactions, working closely with fee earners across the practice.

 

The Role

• Drafting and preparing finance documents, corporate authorisations, legal opinions and other ancillary financing documents

• Registering and deregistering charges with the relevant registries

• Liaising with clients, foreign counsels, flag state registries and other relevant stakeholders

• Proof-reading, formatting and cross-checking documents for accuracy and consistency

• Checking and preparing conditions precedent reports and closing checklists

• Compiling and organising transaction bibles

• Assisting with the consolidation and updating of know-how materials, precedent databases and legal research

 

Skills and Experience Required

• Prior experience as a paralegal or legal executive in an asset finance, shipping or banking and finance practice within a law firm is required

• Excellent written and spoken English

• Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred, to facilitate communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and counterparties

• Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite and competence in legal research tools

• Good academic record

• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage a demanding workload with competing deadlines

• A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the initiative to take ownership of tasks

• Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to a wide variety of assignments
