Description
Facilities Maintenance Technician
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with rotating on-call coverage
Salary: $44,553
The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to help maintain safe, functional, and well-kept facilities throughout Hampton and Newport News. This hands-on position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and general building maintenance involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and building systems.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- Two (2) years of building maintenance experience
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Valid VA Drivers License with acceptable driving record
What You'll Do
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installations involving doors, tile, blinds, windows, drywall, gutters, shingles, exterior trim, and other building components.
- Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs, including switches, outlets, lighting, fuses, cords, leaks, faucets, fixture valves, drain clogs, wax rings, and related equipment.
- Complete painting, carpentry, masonry, and modular office reconfiguration projects; prepare surfaces and apply paint, primers, and sealers.
- Troubleshoot building systems and equipment, identify malfunctions, maintain maintenance records and parts inventory, and report significant issues to the Facility Manager.
- Support special facility projects, event setups, and other maintenance needs throughout H-NNCSB locations.
