As an Staff Accountant you will work with our team of accounting professionals who provide in-house support for the company’s multiple offices and projects. In this role, you will support day-to-day accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, assist with reconciliations and reporting, and work closely with teams across the company. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, 7am–4pm at our Portland, OR headquarters office. This position is not eligible for remote work.

What you’ll be doing:
You will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting functions, including maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. You will work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial information while providing support to our offices and construction projects. This is a mid-level accounting role that requires strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
Staff Accountants at Harder perform the following daily tasks:
- Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
- File state sales and use tax returns
- Reconcile banking activity to Vista accounting software
- Develop and analyze reporting for business operations
- Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements
- Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
- Report analysis and findings to management team
- Be proactive and schedule tasks to ensure you can complete them
- Support other areas of accounting as needed (payroll, AP, AR)
- Additional tasks as needed
- Ability to analyze information and processes
- Detail-driven and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A track record and passion for process improvement
- Proficiency with computers, especially business solutions and bookkeeping software
- Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships
- Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation
- Bachelors degree in accounting preferred
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Previous experience in accounting or other related fields
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
