Description
Help students build skills for life beyond the classroom! Cross Country Education is seeking a dedicated High School Special Education Teacher in Lawndale, CA to provide individualized instruction and help students take meaningful steps toward greater independence and success throughout the 2026–2027 school year.
Position Overview
- Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained high school setting across four core academic subjects, adapting curriculum and instruction to meet students’ IEP goals and individual learning needs.
- Teach functional academics and essential life skills, including daily living, recreational, leisure, and career-readiness skills to support students’ independence and future success.
- Collaborate with paraeducators and general education staff to implement accommodations, monitor student progress, and promote participation in inclusive learning environments.
- Utilize adapted, standards-based curriculum and data-driven progress monitoring to support academic and functional growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Valid California Special Education Credential with Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Extensive Support Needs (ESN), or applicable bridge authorization required
- English Learner (EL) authorization required
- High school special education experience preferred, particularly in self-contained or functional skills settings.
