Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Librarian to join our team in Midrand, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for books and knowledge, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and maintain the library's collection of books, periodicals, and other materials

- Develop and implement library policies and procedures

- Assist patrons with finding and accessing materials

- Conduct research and provide reference services to patrons

- Plan and coordinate library programs and events, such as book clubs and author visits

- Train and supervise library staff and volunteers

- Maintain accurate records of library materials and circulation statistics

- Stay informed about new library technologies and trends

- Collaborate with other libraries and organizations to expand resources and services

- Promote library services and resources to the community through outreach and marketing efforts

- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field

- Minimum of 6 months of experience working in a library setting

- Strong knowledge of library systems and procedures

- Excellent communication and customer service skills

- Proficiency in using library databases and other technology

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Passion for promoting literacy and lifelong learning.

Contract Details:

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package. The Librarian will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and evening shifts required. The contract is for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance.
