Supporting this work onsite offers interesting and impactful opportunities.
We are seeking Senior Strategists for contract opportunities at the Bruce Power site through a contract partner. These dynamic opportunities require individuals who thrive in a fast paced and integrated team environment.
The Senior Strategist ensures all work activities, including those performed by contractors, comply with regulatory requirements, site licence conditions, company policies, procedures, and safety standards. The role leads the development and execution of strategic initiatives, provides oversight of key programs, and may supervise small, high-performing teams of specialized professionals to deliver business objectives and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a strong Nuclear Safety Culture by leading through example and ensuring compliance with site licence requirements, regulatory obligations, company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Support departmental leadership by developing business plans, budgets, forecasts, performance measures, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with corporate objectives.
- Lead the development and execution of commercial and supply chain strategies that support major business initiatives, capital investments, and organizational priorities.
- Develop strategic sourcing programs, supplier performance initiatives, and market intelligence to optimize value, manage risk, and support informed decision-making.
- Oversight of end‑to‑end procurement process for services, including procurement activities, supplier negotiations, commercial evaluations, contract management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure compliant, cost-effective, and timely project delivery.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on complex commercial matters, negotiations, investment decisions, and supplier relationships.
- Lead data analytics and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance, reduce risk, and deliver sustainable business benefits.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and industry partners to achieve shared business objectives.
- Monitor market conditions, supplier trends, and emerging risks to inform strategic planning and business decisions.
- Manage staff, contractors, contracts, purchase orders, and service agreements to ensure business requirements are met effectively and efficiently.
- Lead and develop Supply Chain professionals, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development support.
- Establish team priorities, allocate resources, and balance workload to ensure procurement and contracting activities are executed effectively and on schedule.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and stakeholder service.
- Provide oversight and guidance on complex commercial, contractual, and supplier management issues.
- Promote a culture of safety, respect, diversity, inclusion, human performance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Lead benchmarking, organizational learning, corrective action, and operational experience (OPEX) initiatives to support industry-leading performance.
- Ensure effective program governance, performance monitoring, reporting, and compliance with applicable management system requirements, including CSA N286 principles.
- Provide leadership and cross-functional collaboration to develop, implement, and sustain business strategies, standards, programs, and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Four-year university education in an appropriate field, such as Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, commercial strategy, project management, or related fields.
- Experience in nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated and complex industries.
- Experience in new build of complex industrial projects is highly desirable.
- Experience with Vendor relationship management.
- Experience with Competitive dialogue and market engagement.
- Experience with Contract strategy development.
- Demonstrated expertise in business analytics, procurement management, and project management.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, evaluate impacts, and develop innovative solutions.
- Proven ability to develop business cases, conduct research, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and external partners.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative leader who thrives in cross-functional teams and builds effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience leading, coaching, and motivating small to large teams to achieve business objectives.
