If you can win a listing page of fifteen near-identical products in under two seconds, this one is yours.
Marketplaces are not a channel we bolt on at the end. For a lot of Indians, the listing is the brand.
ABOUT CLIENT:
Our client is in the business of building tasteful brands across categories and geographies. That could mean 0 to 1, 1 to 10, or 10 to 1000. Six months in, they are about 25 people, each one here to do the best work of our lives.
WHY WE THEY HIRING
Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart. Different platforms, different rules, different shoppers, and almost no transferable playbook between them. They need someone who actually knows the difference.
This is the unglamorous half of the business and it still decides the year. Share of search, assortment, ratings, the merchandising calendar, whether they are in stock in the dark store that matters. You own all of it.
You will work across several brands at once, some launching, some scaling, and you will decide where each one deserves to show up.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
• Retail media. Sponsored products, brands and display on marketplaces, plus ad products on quick commerce. Keyword harvesting, bid logic, placement, budget split by platform.
• Share of search. The keywords they intend to own, where they currently rank, and the plan to close the gap. Organic and paid together, not as separate projects.
• Listings and content. Titles, bullets, A+ content, images, thumbnail logic, variant structure. You brief the writer and designer and you are the last check before it goes live.
• Assortment and pricing. Which SKUs go where, pack sizes by platform, price ladders, promos, platform-funded offers and what they actually cost them.
• Ratings and reviews. Seeding, responding, spotting the product problem hiding inside a run of two-star reviews, and telling the people who can fix it.
• Stock and operations. Working with supply chain on forecasts, appointments, fill rate and the dark-store footprint. Going out of stock in your top city is a performance problem.
• The numbers. ROAS and TACoS by platform, velocity per store, conversion by listing, contribution after platform fees. You own the dashboard and report it honestly, including the months it looks bad.
MUST HAVES
Skills
• Two to four years running marketplace or quick commerce accounts with your own budgets. Brand side, seller side or agency, they care about the accounts.
• Platform depth, not surface familiarity. Seller Central or Vendor Central, Flipkart Ads, and at least one quick commerce platform you have actually operated.
• Keyword and bid craft. Harvesting, negatives, placement modifiers, and a view on when to stop bidding on your own brand term.
• Listing judgment. You can look at a page and say why it is losing, and it is usually not the price.
• Sheets at a working level. Pull a bulk file, fix it, upload it, without breaking the catalogue.
• Comfort with the operations side. Forecasts, fill rate and appointments are part of the job, not someone else’s.
Additional
• Food or FMCG experience is a real advantage. Shelf life, pack sizes and compliance copy change every answer.
• Startup speed. A listing goes live today, a promo is live tomorrow, and the read happens before the weekend.
• Comfort with ambiguity. New brands, no history, no benchmarks to lean on.
• You can think without AI. Use the tools to move faster, never to think for you.
• You read the back of packs in other people’s trolleys and you have opinions about a shelf you had nothing to do with.
