Product Compliance Specialist (On-site)

About the Position: 

The Product Compliance Specialist supports the company's product safety and regulatory compliance program, with a primary focus on children's products, toys, educational materials, and related merchandise. This position coordinates product testing, maintains compliance documentation, communicates with suppliers and third-party testing laboratories, and helps ensure products meet applicable U.S. safety and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple projects and deadlines, with experience implementing CPSC regulations for children's products and an interest in expanding their product safety and compliance expertise.

Position Responsibilites:

• Coordinate product safety and compliance testing with suppliers, manufacturers, and third-party testing laboratories.
• Request, collect, review, organize, and maintain product compliance documentation, including laboratory test reports, Children's Product Certificates (CPCs), and other required records.
• Track products through the testing and compliance approval process and follow up on outstanding documentation, samples, testing, corrective actions and approvals.
• Assist with determining testing and documentation requirements for new and existing products.
• Maintain accurate and organized electronic compliance records by product/item number and supplier.
• Enter compliance data into CPSC Product Registry for import items.
• Review test reports and supporting documents for completeness and escalate discrepancies or potential compliance issues.
• Support compliance with applicable consumer product safety requirements including CPSIA, ASTM F963, CPSC regulations, lead and phthalate limits, small parts requirements, labeling, tracking labels, and other applicable children's product requirements.
• Coordinate product samples and information needed by third-party testing laboratories.
• Communicate testing failures or documentation deficiencies to appropriate internal teams and suppliers and assist in tracking corrective actions through resolution.
• Support product development, purchasing, merchandising, quality, and other departments with product compliance questions and documentation.
• Assist with maintaining internal compliance procedures, checklists, databases, and reporting.
• Support product recall, corrective-action, or regulatory-response activities as needed.
• Assist with the investigation and resolution of customer product concerns, quality issues, and product safety inquiries.
• Perform other product compliance and quality-related duties assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in Natural Sciences or environmental Engineering preferred.
• 2–5 years of related experience in product compliance, product safety, quality assurance, product development, laboratory testing, purchasing, vendor management, or a related function preferred.
• Experience working with or supporting compliance with U.S. consumer product safety requirements, including CPSC regulations, strongly preferred.
• Requires strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
• Ability to manage multiple products, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, manufacturers, testing laboratories, vendors, and internal departments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and related business systems, PeopleSoft experience a plus.
• Ability to read, interpret technical documentation, including laboratory test reports, product specifications, certificates, and regulatory/compliance documentation.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate unfamiliar regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with children's products, toys, educational products, consumer products, or product development/manufacturing preferred.
• Experience maintaining detailed records, databases, spreadsheets, or project trackers a plus.
