Location: Grand Rapids, MI
This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.
Job Description
The Lead Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for leading key aspects of project execution within their discipline, including scope, schedule, cost, technical execution, risk, and quality. This role provides technical and operational leadership for embedded software development efforts and partners closely with project, engineering, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful program execution across the full software development lifecycle.
Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as the Control Account Manager (CAM) for project elements delegated by the Engineering Project Manager.
Lead day-to-day technical and operational activities for individual contributors.
Work alongside the team to author, develop, and implement embedded software solutions.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with the customer, Engineering Project Manager, and project and engineering leadership.
Understand and manage the technical scope, cost, and schedule for assigned project responsibilities.
Plan, forecast, coordinate, monitor, and lead the software effort across the full software development lifecycle for the assigned project area.
Provide software team oversight to ensure delivery of high-quality software artifacts and products.
Escalate issues in a timely manner.
Monitor team progress against deliverables, remove roadblocks, and drive accountability and ownership for individual and team commitments.
Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and scope changes associated with the software effort.
Define supplier scope of work and manage supplier schedule and deliverables, as applicable.
Partner with product stakeholders to understand MGPP and MGTP and communicate project needs and status.
Demonstrate the GE Aerospace Leadership Behaviors in daily work and team leadership.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field from an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in embedded software development.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.

Minimum of 5 years of experience with DO-178B/C software development processes and certification standards across the full software development lifecycle.
Experience working with DO-178B/C DAL B.
Experience with DO-297 / IMA application development.
The base pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $127,000.00 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 10/31/26.
