Description
Freese and Nichols is seeking a Construction Manager in Houston, Texas. As Construction Manager, you will lead construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, working closely with clients, contractors, design teams and project staff to keep work aligned with contract requirements, schedules and client objectives. You will also have opportunities to guide team members, strengthen client relationships and contribute to business development while supporting projects that require regular travel to active job sites.
What You’ll Do
- Lead multiple construction projects while coordinating scope, schedule, budget, risks and project requirements
- Supervise construction observation and inspection activities, including material sampling, testing and quantity measurement
- Review contractor work for conformance with contract documents and manage requests for information, submittals, pay requests, change orders and claims
- Prepare for and lead pre-bid, preconstruction and construction meetings, including meeting documentation and follow-up
- Coordinate with clients, contractors and design teams to clarify objectives, address construction issues and support timely project decisions
- Lead construction closeout activities and capture lessons learned for future projects
- Manage and develop project staff through work planning, performance feedback, coaching and day-to-day direction
- Travel by vehicle to active project sites as needed to support project execution and client needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
- 10+ years of relevant construction experience serving as a construction manager or superintendent
- Proficiency with project management information systems and ability to mentor others in their use
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and understanding of alternative project delivery methods
Preferred
- Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience supporting water resource, treatment or similar infrastructure construction projects
