Overview of the Role
Business Risk & Control Management Team Lead/Manager is a professional role, supporting Personal Financial Services in managing and mitigating operational risks and control as a Frist Line of Defense function. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflow for Personal Financial Services. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area [AML Operations/ AML Advisory and Governance/ Financial and Conduct/Non-Financial Risk/ Fraud Advisory and Governance]. Requires in-depth understanding od how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues within substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information.
Job Responsibilities
- Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources.
- Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams.
- Participates from inception through implementation, in cross-functional or cross business issues designed to ensure business compliance with laws, regulations, and policy requirements across key/complex risk levels.
- Utilizes Issue Management processes and project management methodology from the initiation, planning, control requirements, execution and closing phases of each issue; end results may include improved productivity, technology, processes, cost savings, and controls.
- Supports business areas of the business from an issue/project perspective, regular engagement with Senior Business Level Officers, Legal, Risk, and Compliance regarding to complex matters.
- Initiates and develops relationships with others throughout the business unit and the bank in order to identify and understand business needs.
- Interprets and analyse patterns and present data findings to stakeholders to help support decision making.
- Ensure effective governance around the DMT process/relevant designed control for PFS.
- Supports Business Units on gap analysis, assessment of legal and regulatory requirements with Legal and Compliance stakeholders, and in the development of local procedures to meet group policy requirements.
- Supports on reviews and audits on risk and control consultation and review of response to audit findings.
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision and to exercise independence of judgement and autonomy
- Identifies improvement area and training gaps and provide guidance on risk and control concepts, processes, and tools.
- Develops talent and build competence among teams and ensure adequate back-ups to meet datelines for work deliverables.
- Ensures a culture of accountability, integrity and respect.
- Promptly escalate issues regarding, but not limited to, people, processes, and products and resolve in a timely fashion.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 08 years in the Financial Services industry, and minimum 05 years in Control Management-related role, preferably with experience in PFS services and transaction services
- Strong understanding of PFS processes and products
- Ability to gain buy-in among stakeholders for initiatives, changes, and implementation. present a compelling case for ideas and initiatives through listening and articulating a convincing point of view
- Experience in creating and implementing processes that result in improved business risk & control performance
- Up-to-date understanding of key risk and control concepts, tools and trends relating to risk identification, rating and prioritization, mitigation, and reporting
- Proven people and team management skills
- Risk-based thinking and analytical mindset
- Self-starter who can work independently
- Ability to multi-task and management concurrent projects and deliverables
- Proficient in the use of basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
