About the Company
Our client is a food manufacturer operating a fast-paced production plant in Mason City, Iowa.
The Role
As leader of the maintenance and engineering department, the Plant Engineer keeps building and equipment performance at a high level, reduces mechanical downtime and keeps production lines running at peak efficiency. You will lead the development of maintenance systems including preventive and predictive maintenance and TPM, and you will lead engineering activity that keeps the facility a state-of-the-art food manufacturing operation, including innovative technology projects.
What You Will Do
- Own capital projects from concept to completion, managing and scheduling every element so projects are delivered on time, on budget and without compromising safety, food safety or environmental standards.
- Lead the development and implementation of maintenance systems that keep the plant operating at peak performance.
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance, TPM and scheduling that maximizes task completion with minimal downtime.
- Manage the maintenance team by delegating tasks, enforcing policies and guiding work assignments.
- Provide short-term fixes and long-term solutions for troubleshooting, problem analysis and equipment failures to minimize recurring issues.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing and tracking KPIs for the maintenance function.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management and development or project leadership
- Food manufacturing experience
- Change management experience
- Advanced technical skills in the mechanical and electrical fields (PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering) and the ability to lead resource planning in a large manufacturing environment
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance and TPM
- Ability to use exposure monitoring equipment and interpret and communicate results
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word
- Strong leadership, organizational planning, analytical, communication and presentation skills
