Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping maintain the appearance, functionality, safety, and historic character of Hotel Savoy. This position performs preventative maintenance and general repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, restaurant and banquet spaces, kitchens, and back-of-house areas.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and comfortable troubleshooting a variety of maintenance needs while responding quickly and professionally to guest and operational requests.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous hotel, apartment, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
- General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and basic equipment repair preferred.
- Trade license or certification is a plus, but not required.
- Experience working in an older or historic building is a plus.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete preventative maintenance and routine repairs throughout the hotel.
- Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests and work orders.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and mechanical issues.
- Perform guest room repairs including touch-up painting, caulking, tile repair, furniture repair, hardware replacement, and other general maintenance.
- Assist with maintenance of restaurant, banquet, kitchen, laundry, and back-of-house equipment.
- Maintain public areas, meeting spaces, offices, and associate areas to hotel standards.
- Inspect equipment and building systems and report larger repair needs or safety concerns to management.
- Respond immediately to alarms, leaks, equipment failures, and other urgent maintenance situations.
- Assist with maintaining the historic appearance and condition of the property while completing repairs appropriately.
- Maintain tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and inventory in a clean and organized manner.
- Follow all hotel safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment.
- Communicate professionally with guests and associates while completing work in occupied areas.
- Assist other departments when maintenance support is needed.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Facilities or hotel leadership.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated areas when necessary.
- Ability to lift and move up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on hotel needs.
- Availability may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be available to assist with urgent maintenance situations when scheduled.
