As the Finance Director for Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD) Strategic Services and Aftermarket Growth, you will lead a team providing essential business information, strategic counsel and business support to senior divisional management (General, Product, Service and Business Development) in the development, refinement and execution of a divisional strategy that drives profitable growth in the services and aftermarket business. Your team will also provide financial analysis and business support for all significant investments made by COGMD to drive profitable growth. Emphasis will be placed on Caterpillar’s Operating & Execution (O&E) Model to drive decision-making that enhances enterprise value and performance, while positioning the division and Caterpillar for long-term success. The role reports to the Division CFO of the Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division.

 

What You Will Do:

• Providing strategic counsel and support in the development and execution of a services and aftermarket growth strategy for the division
• Presenting research and analysis findings, competitor analysis, financial forecasts and key insights to the senior management, and assisting them in making strategic decisions
• Developing rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations, ensuring strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
• Providing support in the development of integrated aftermarket value propositions, including analysis of competitive strategies and offerings, market economics and competitive positioning
• Structuring and solving business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of growth opportunities
• Developing business cases in support of M&A and asset acquisition targets as required
• Working closely with cross-functional teams on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight, perspective and analytical support.
• Understanding customer business models and requirements
• Communicating recommendations to senior management, functional, or regional staff and management in a clear, concise and impactful way
• Providing continuous coaching and training to the team
• Developing formal documentation of divisional strategy processes, as well as process monitoring and improvement
• Presenting research and analysis findings, competitor analysis, financial forecasts and key insights to senior management, and assisting them in making corporate and strategic decisions
• Maintaining current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures providing guidance to others in business

 

What You Have (Required Skills):

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Engineering
• Business Acumen: Expert knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
• Finance and Accounting: Expert knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
• Financial Analysis: Expert knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
• Organizational Governance: Extensive experience in the processes, customs, policies, and rules affecting the way the organization is administered and controlled; ability to ensure compliance with governance guidelines and policies
• Strategic Thinking: Extensive experience in "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization
• Leadership: Extensive experience in leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there
• Financial Forecasting and Modeling: Extensive experience in processes, tools and techniques of financial forecasting and modeling; ability to explore and evaluate alternative financial scenarios and results

 

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• MBA or Master's Degree in a business-related field
• Strong analytical skills to perform detailed financial analysis and prepare strategic plans
• Excellent interpersonal skills to handle sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific action

• The primary location for this position is Houston, TX

Summary Pay Range:

$189,080.00 - $283,630.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
