CDL-A Local Intermodal Driver – Good Pay | Home Daily
Earn $77,000–$90,000 per year running local intermodal routes from the Buffalo rail yards. This Monday–Friday position offers daily home time, evening starts, and additional pay opportunities, with occasional overnight stays possible due to freight or weather.
Pay Details
- Average Weekly Pay: Approximately $1,500–$1,800
- Pay is based on hub miles.
- Driver load/unload: $45 per stop
- Hazmat load: $40
- Refrigerated load: $40
- Border crossing: $75 per load
- Crosstown, driver assist, and empty move: $25 per load
- Refused delivery: $39 per load
- Truck order not used: $30
- Empty search, breakdown, rail delay, waiting, tractor repositioning, overweight rework, yard checks, and safety training: $23 per hour
- Driver trainer pay: $35 per hour
- Mandatory safety or round-table meetings: $30 per hour
- Holiday pay: Average daily wage
- Jury duty and bereavement pay: $180 per day
Job Details
- Local intermodal driving position operating from Buffalo-area rail yards.
- Approximately 1,750 miles per week.
- Local routes may occasionally require use of a sleeper truck.
- Drivers may need to spend the night in the truck due to weather or load conditions.
- Canada freight is available only to qualified fleet drivers with a passport or enhanced driver’s license.
- Trucks cannot be taken home during time off.
Shift Details
- Monday–Friday schedule
- Start times between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM
- Approximately 12-hour shifts
- Home daily under normal operating conditions
- Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day may require work.
- Christmas is off.
Job Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- Minimum 3 months of verifiable Class A CDL experience
- DOT Medical Card
- Clean driving record
- No SAP drivers
- Hazmat endorsement required within 60 days after orientation
- Hazmat testing and endorsement costs may be reimbursed with proof of completion and applicable receipts
- Ability to work evening shifts and occasional overnight stays
