Description
The hiring salary for this position is $66,102 - $78,582 annually; full salary range for this position is $66,102 - $113,734 annually.
- Records, evaluates, analyzes, and adjusts the financial accounts of the County to ensure timeliness and accuracy of the information contained in the accounting system;
- Prepares and enters into the financial system the necessary journal entries to record activity and/or adjust account balances;
- Prepares, processes, and records all ach and wire transfers including but not limited to debt service payments, bond proceeds drawdowns, and other repetitive and non-repetitive ach and wire transfer activity;
- Responsible for reviewing journal entries prepared by other departments into the financial system
- Performs other routine maintenance in the NaviLine financial system, as directed by the supervisor;
- Communicates with other department staff, as needed, to ensure accuracy and completeness of the records;
- Responds to auditors’ requests for information/documents;
- Maintains files and other records to support financial transactions and work performed;
- Utilizes technology effectively in performance of job duties;
- Exercises professional judgment and discretion when handling information processed in performance of job duties;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary’s County Government policies and procedures;
- Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary’s County Government to the public;
- Expert knowledge of department practices and procedures;
- Thorough knowledge of fundamental accounting principles;
- Ability to operate office equipment – copier, fax machines, multiple phone lines;
- Ability to prioritize and multitask; ability to follow through with assigned tasks;
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with other Finance staff members as well as departmental fiscal staff;
- Ability to keep accurate records and maintain organized and current files;
- Ability to effectively utilize appropriate technology, including County administrative software as well as the County’s financial accounting systems.
- Associate’s degree;
- Two years or more of job-related experience;
- Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results;
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings and training rooms.
