The Position
Senior Market Analyst (Patient Insights & Primary Research)
Roche India – Roche Services & Solutions
Chennai / Hyderabad
A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.
That’s what makes us Roche.
Roche has established Global Analytics and Technology Center of Excellence (GATE) in India to drive analytics & technology driven solutions by partnering with Roche affiliates across the globe.
Your Opportunity
As a Senior Market Analyst for Patient Insights & Primary Research, you will serve as the primary architect of our understanding of the human side of healthcare, working closely with global affiliates to bridge the gap between traditional market research and deep-dive patient analytics.
This role is designed for a strategic researcher who looks beyond the "what" of market trends to uncover the "why" of patient behavior, translating internal and external data into high-quality, empathetic solutions for complex business problems. By synthesizing primary fieldwork with secondary insights - ranging from claims data to social listening - you will ensure that every business strategy is grounded in the authentic reality of the patient and caregiver experience, ultimately delivering actionable intelligence that drives patient-centered innovation. You will also own the patient strategy measurement framework, partnering with research and data vendors to ensure it reflects real patient reality.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Specialized Patient Research & Execution
- End-to-End PMR: Lead the design and execution of primary research studies. This includes authoring patient-centered screeners and surveys, coordinating recruitment of diverse populations, and managing fieldwork vendors
- Mixed-Methods Analysis: Conduct hands-on quantitative and qualitative analysis of research data - including MaxDiff, conjoint, cluster, and factor analysis - ensuring rigor, data quality, and representative sampling across portfolios
2. Quantitative Research & Analysis
- Apply a strong understanding of basic statistical concepts to analyze data from primary and secondary research studies
- Work hands-on with raw data from quant studies - cleaning, analyzing, and charting data into a meaningful story (ATUs, Trackers)
- Run MaxDiff survey analysis, conjoint studies, cluster analysis, factor analysis, and similar techniques, using statistical software packages such as SPSS, R, or SAS (highly preferred)
3. Qualitative Research & Synthesis
- Synthesize qualitative insights into a meaningful, impactful, and motivating story. Conduct desk research to provide background insights on a given topic, and build landscape or topical reports utilizing information available in the public domain
- Synthesize insights from multiple channels - including patient-level and operational data - into a business-relevant, meaningful narrative
4. Patient Strategy KPI Ownership & Reporting
- Measurement Framework Ownership: Own and report on the organization's patient strategy measurement framework, covering metrics such as patient experience, digital engagement and utilization, treatment initiation, onboarding milestones, and patient drop-off/retention
- Baselining & Gap Resolution: Establish baselines where none currently exist, partnering with internal teams and external vendors to identify available data, close measurement gaps, and evolve the framework as new services and data sources come online
5. Multi-Source Insight Synthesis (The "Insight Engine")
- Holistic Mining: Proactively synthesize insights from a diverse range of sources: medical literature, patient advocacy groups, social listening, forums, claims data, and proprietary internal databases
- Trend Spotting & Actionable Storytelling: Act as the subject matter expert on healthcare industry trends, spotting patterns and "white space" opportunities through deep-dive secondary research. Translate raw data and transcripts into clear, empathetic narratives that highlight patient emotions, motivators, barriers, and unmet needs
- Journey Architecture: Build and maintain living Patient Journey Maps, experience trackers, and longitudinal databases - combining primary research findings with KPI data to monitor how patient needs evolve over time
6. Vendor Management & Stakeholder Communication
- End-to-End Vendor Ownership: Manage relationships with both research fieldwork vendors and data/technology vendors, overseeing scoping, timelines, data-sharing feasibility, and quality assurance
- Strategic Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for US-based affiliate stakeholders, aligning on KPI definitions and data availability, and present findings to stakeholders in a structured fashion - weighing trade-offs and providing holistic recommendations that inform high-stakes business decisions
7. Innovation & Efficiency
- GenAI Integration: Leverage GenAI tools to automate the initial analysis of customer feedback and research transcripts, reducing "time-to-insight" while maintaining high accuracy and empathy
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline recurring KPI tracking and cross-source data synthesis
Who you are
- You hold a bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience in the market and business research space in the Pharma, Healthcare and Biotechnology domain
- Experience of working with US customers
- Strong understanding of the drug development process from clinical phases to launch and commercialization
- Proven experience translating both qualitative and quantitative market research into business-relevant insights and recommendations
- Experience managing external vendors - both research fieldwork and data/technology vendors - including scoping, timelines, and data feasibility discussions
- Comfortable owning and reporting on measurement frameworks or KPIs, including establishing baselines in the absence of existing data
- Hands on experience with SQL, MS-Excel & MS-PowerPoint is must and SAS/ Python/ AWS/ R/ SPSS are nice to have
- Working knowledge of GenAI applications for research synthesis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop compelling stories, present to the stakeholders and influence decision-making
- Self-starter with innovative mindset and passionate about solving complex problems
- Highly motivated, learning oriented and quality-focused individuals would be preferred
