The Division of Physical Therapy within the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time research faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on qualifications and experience.The successful candidate will join a nationally recognized Division of Physical Therapy that is committed to advancing rehabilitation science, improving health and function across diverse populations, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The Division is home to a vibrant community of clinician-scientists, educators, and researchers engaged in innovative research spanning movement science, neurologic rehabilitation, aging, neuroplasticity, mobility, exercise and health promotion, and rehabilitation technology. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with faculty across Emory University, Emory Healthcare, the Rollins School of Public Health, Georgia Institute of Technology, the Center for Physical Therapy and Movement Science, and numerous clinical and research partners throughout the Atlanta region.The Division is particularly interested in candidates whose research complements and expands existing strengths while fostering new interdisciplinary collaborations across rehabilitation medicine, public health, engineering, neuroscience, data science, and implementation science. Applicants with an established or emerging record of NIH-funded research and a vision for developing innovative translational and community-impact research programs are especially encouraged to apply.

 

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to: • Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded program of research.• Disseminate scholarly work through peer-reviewed publications and national and international presentations.• Collaborate with faculty, trainees, clinicians, and interdisciplinary investigators across Emory University and affiliated institutions.• Contribute to the mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and junior faculty.• Participate in teaching and mentoring activities commensurate with a research-focused appointment, including contributions to the DPT and PhD curricula and supervision of student research and scholarly projects.• Participate in departmental, divisional, university, and professional service activities.• Contribute to the research mission and strategic growth of the Division of Physical Therapy and Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.Required Qualifications• Earned PhD (or equivalent research doctorate) in rehabilitation science, movement science, neuroscience, kinesiology, epidemiology, biomedical engineering, public health, or a related field.• Evidence of a productive program of scholarship, including peer-reviewed publications.• Demonstrated potential for obtaining and sustaining extramural research funding.• Strong commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary research.Preferred Qualifications• Eligibility for physical therapist licensure in the State of Georgia.• Record of successful extramural funding as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.• Experience conducting clinically relevant rehabilitation research.• Interest in mentoring doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and early-career investigators.• Strong commitment to broadening opportunities in research and academic environments. About the Division The Division of Physical Therapy at Emory University is nationally recognized for excellence in education, discovery, and service.
