OPERATIONS SPECIALIST
PAY PLAN: 109 -$32,547.00 minimum salary
Distinguishing Features of the Position (Summary)
Performs office and technical work of assigned department function. Duties include receiving documents; entering data into automated systems, verifying data, processing transactions, preparing and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment. Positions in this class perform routine inventory control and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer questions; and maintain documents and records.
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Creates and implements the use of forms as needed to simplify administrative operations; answers phone calls, responds to e-mails, scans and sends documents, and relays messages to peers and supervisor.
Responsible for inventory control of all department's supplies and equipment.
Responsible for coordinating with Purchasing department the picking up and delivery of county auction items.
Request quotes and prepares purchase orders for needed materials, equipment, and supplies; receives and distributes incoming shipments.
Responsible for issuing and preparing tools and equipment to complete work orders.
Responsible for preparing supplies and equipment needed for all county buildings.
Responsible for maintaining supply and equipment areas organized and restocked.
Assist in assembling and installing furniture and equipment.
Assist maintenance personnel with problems and ensures timely completion of work.
Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools in a safe manner; may be expected to operate heavy equipment.
Provides information and assistance to employees, managers, vendors, citizens, local businesses, and/or and other interested parties regarding assigned department functions; serves as liaison between supervisors, vendors, and other departments in regards to department policies and activities. Explains policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) year of experience performing office, technical skills and administrative support work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Valid State of Texas Driver's License required.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time climbing, balancing, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motion at a keyboard.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Exposure to damp/wet surfaces, duty conditions, fumes, odors, flammable liquids and high noise levels.
This position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period prior to Civil Service eligibility.
