About IG Group
IG is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.3m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions - built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses. The bar is high - bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next. Join us at IG - the future gets built here.
About the role
As a Senior Finance Systems Support Specialist, you will ensure critical finance systems remain operational, reliable and aligned with business needs. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will directly enable finance teams to deliver accurate reporting, maintain strong controls, and support strategic decision-making. By monitoring system performance, resolving incidents and developing robust solutions, you'll be instrumental in maintaining business-as-usual operations while driving continuous improvement - acting as the link between finance stakeholders and technology, translating business requirements into effective system solutions. This JD covers a single career path used across our finance systems specialisms; the systems and team you join will depend on where the current opening sits.
About the team
This role sits within the Finance Systems & Change team, part of IG's global Finance function. The team owns IG's finance technology landscape: maintaining business-as-usual operations across all finance systems, delivering enhancements and new solutions, and driving the digitisation of the finance function. As IG pursues a more efficient and scalable operating model, the team is central to IG's finance transformation - modernising platforms, improving data quality, and enabling finance to deliver faster, more reliable insight to the business.
This role sit within team's core specialisms: GL and accounts payable (platforms such as Infor SunSystems or SAP Concur), consolidation and reporting (platforms such as HFM, Essbase or Power BI). You'll work closely with the relevant Finance and Operations stakeholders, with Finance Systems and IT colleagues on integrations, and with vendor partners on support and upgrades. The role reports to the Finance Systems Manager and has no direct reports.
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities build cumulatively across levels: each level carries everything below it, plus the additional accountabilities listed.
Junior
Monitor system performance and data loads across your assigned finance systems, investigating anomalies and escalating where needed.
Act as a first point of contact for Finance and Operations teams, logging and progressing incidents through the ticketing system within agreed service levels.
Run defined SQL queries to validate data integrity and investigate discrepancies, under guidance.
Support the delivery of data inputs from source systems, vendors and integration platforms, checking they meet required data quality standards.
Maintain process documentation and user guides, and provide day-to-day user support and basic training.
Support system testing for changes, including preparing test cases and recording results.
Flexibility to provide support outside standard hours when business-critical situations require immediate attention.
Mid
In addition to all Junior responsibilities:
Own incident resolution end to end for the systems and processes you support, including flexible support around business-critical deadlines (for example period-end close, payment runs or reconciliation cut-offs).
Write SQL independently to investigate data issues, and support both internal and external reporting requirements.
Manage selected BAU operational deliverables through the full project lifecycle — requirement capture, solution design, roll-out and user sign-off.
Lead system testing for changes, coordinating business users through UAT.
Work with Finance Systems, IT and vendors to resolve data and integration issues, understanding system and process interdependencies.
Maintain day-to-day relationships with vendor support teams, raising and tracking support tickets.
Senior
In addition to all Junior and Mid responsibilities:
Act as the senior functional and data expert for your assigned finance systems - the go-to for the most complex investigations - and the bridge between Finance, the Finance Systems Manager and vendors.
Set support standards, service levels and ways of working for the analyst group, and own the quality of BAU support and data investigation.
Provide functional input to the enhancement roadmap and to change and upgrade projects, leading the support and testing workstreams within them.
Ensure the financial controls relevant to your systems (for example client-money and regulatory reconciliation controls, payment controls and segregation of duties, or consolidation and data governance controls) are consistently applied, escalating control risks promptly.
Advise on vendor upgrade and improvement opportunities, and represent the support function in vendor governance conversations.
Develop the capability of the analyst team through mentoring, coaching and knowledge-sharing, and drive process and service improvements across the support function.
