Junior Software (Emulation) Engineer.
In this role, you will design, develop and maintain advanced emulation models that simulate real-life automated logistics systems. These digital twins help our engineers and customers understand, validate and optimize complex airport and parcel handling operations before they are deployed in the real world.

Your Role
As a Software (Emulation) Engineer, you will be involved in the full software development lifecycle. Working closely with colleagues from various disciplines, you will:
- Design, develop, test and maintain emulation software and simulation models
- Translate business requirements and abstract concepts into functional software solutions
- Create digital representations of automated logistic systems and processes
- Develop software that models transportation, sortation and storage equipment
- Integrate communication with external systems, reporting tools and data analysis capabilities
- Continuously improve software quality, performance and maintainability
- Collaborate with international teams and stakeholders across Vanderlande
One of the key challenges in this role is finding the right balance between realism and simplicity. You will create models that accurately represent complex logistics systems while remaining efficient, understandable and scalable.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
- 0-3 years of experience in software development
- Strong interest in software modelling, system behaviour and complex technical challenges
- Affinity with graph-based structures (nodes and edges), 3D emulation or simulation models
- Experience with source control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, TFS or similar
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with one or more of the following is considered an advantage:
- Model-based development and requirements engineering
- Industrial software development environments
- Baggage handling, warehouse automation, material handling or similar logistics domains
- Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Java development and IntelliJ IDE
- Working in Agile development environments
- International collaboration with globally distributed teams

About the Team
The Digital Twin Suite department develops advanced software models that replicate the behaviour of real automated logistics systems. Our digital twin solutions enable testing, validation and optimization throughout the project lifecycle and contribute directly to the success of Vanderlande's airport, warehousing and parcel solutions worldwide.
You will join a team of highly skilled software engineers working on innovative technology that combines logistics knowledge, software engineering and system thinking.

This position offers a competitive salary depending on background and experience:
Bachelor starter (no experience): €3.432 gross per month
Master starter (no experience): €3.806 gross per month
Experienced candidates: €4.500 – €5.900 gross per month
