Assistant Manager

1. Laboratory & Test Facility Management

• Lead day-to-day operations of the testing laboratory and validation facility.
• Ensure optimum utilization of test benches, equipment, instrumentation, and utilities.
• Establish and monitor facility KPIs including utilization, efficiency, uptime, testing throughput.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve laboratory productivity and reduce turnaround time.

2. Test Planning & Resource Management

• Develop short-term and long-term test schedules aligned with project timelines.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams for validation activities.
• Prioritize test requests based on business and customer requirements.

3. Manpower Planning & Shift Management

• Lead a team of engineers, technicians, operators, and contract manpower.
• Manage shift operations including 2-shift/3-shift laboratory operations.
• Ensure adequate skill development, training, and competency management of test personnel.
• Monitor team performance and drive employee engagement initiatives.

     4. Budgeting & Cost Management

• Prepare annual operating budgets and capital expenditure plans.
• Monitor operating costs including utilities, consumables, calibration, maintenance, and manpower.
• Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality and safety.

      5.   AMC & Maintenance Management and Calibration

• Manage Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for test benches, environmental chambers, DAQ systems, utility systems, and laboratory infrastructure.
• Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are effectively implemented.
• Monitor equipment uptime and drive quick resolution of breakdowns.

• Ensure timely calibration and certification of test equipment.
• Maintain compliance with applicable standards such as ISO 17025, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and internal BorgWarner requirements.

6. EHS & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.
• Lead safety audits and corrective action implementation.

• Present laboratory performance and project status to management and customers.

7.   Strategic Development

• Benchmark test laboratory capabilities against industry standards.
• Recommend new technologies, automation, and digitalization initiatives.
• Lead laboratory expansion and capability enhancement projects.
