Support Worker - Sheltered Housing
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Sheltered Housing Manager responsible for delivering high-quality health and social care support to tenants requiring additional on-hand assistance and supervision within sheltered accommodation sites. The role focuses on helping tenants live as independently as possible by supporting them to manage their own households and daily lives in a person-centred, empowering, and positive manner, while ensuring a safe and secure living environment.
Responsibilities:
- Follow emergency planning and major incident procedures as required in the event of unexpected incidents.
- Respect and safeguard service users’ possessions and property when assisting with daily living activities or domestic tasks.
- Maintain polite, respectful and professional communication with service users, family members, visitors and colleagues at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to support service users in achieving maximum independence and potential.
- Assist with maintaining and updating inventories of both organisational assets and service users’ personal possessions.
- Promote a holistic, person-centred approach, encouraging service users to remain as independent as possible.
- Support and share relevant health promotion information to enable service users to make informed choices regarding their health and wellbeing.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with all key stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate updates.
- Follow all organisational codes of conduct, policies and local procedures, including maintaining professional judgement and clear communication of decisions and actions.
- Work safely when lone working and uphold principles of fairness, equality, and professional conduct at all times.
- Undertake mandatory and ongoing training in line with service requirements and changing service user needs.
- Identify and report potential risks or hazardous situations through observation and basic risk assessment to ensure the safety of staff, service users, and visitors.
- Participate in a rota system, ensuring on-call cover is maintained for emergencies.
Special Conditions:
- Must be flexible to work unsocial hours, including shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays, and to cover short-notice absences when required.
- May be exposed to service users or family members who are confused, abusive, or aggressive.
- Required to respond appropriately to sudden changes in service users’ health, financial, or social circumstances, providing immediate, non-judgemental support where needed.
- May be required to undertake lone working between Cape Villa and Deasons Centre.
