Governance Officer

We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Governance Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £19.27 - £25.44 per hour

Summary:

Southern Housing is seeking a Governance Officer to provide administrative support to Southern Housing's Boards and Committees and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The role involves organising meetings, preparing agendas and reports, taking minutes, maintaining governance registers, supporting Board member recruitment and ensuring accurate governance records.

Responsibilities:

• Provide an efficient and effective administrative service to Southern Housing Boards, subsidiary Boards and Committees.
• Arrange meetings, plan agendas, prepare reports, collate and distribute meeting papers, take minutes and follow up on agreed actions.
• Work closely with Board and Committee Chairs and senior staff to ensure effective governance support.
• Maintain Governance Team systems, files and records, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and securely stored.
• Administer and maintain governance registers, including probity, shareholders, gifts and hospitality, fraud and whistleblowing registers.

Qualifications:

• Educated to A-level standard or equivalent.

Essential Requirements:

• Knowledge and experience of company secretarial duties and corporate governance.
• Knowledge of social housing regulation and relevant legislation applicable to Southern Housing.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
