THE POSITION

The City of Camarillo is seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and service-minded individual to join our Public Works team as a Maintenance Worker I (Temporary/Part-Time). This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining public spaces, and wants to make a difference in the community.

The ideal candidate is prepared to perform a variety of entry-level maintenance, repair, and construction activities that support City streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, landscaped areas, irrigation systems, signs, traffic-control devices, and related facilities.

Successful candidates are comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, performing physically active work, and working effectively as part of a crew. They use hand and power tools safely, follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate courteously with coworkers and the public.

Candidates should have basic experience or familiarity with construction, maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, or a related field. Assignments may include asphalt patching, concrete and surface repairs, grounds and irrigation maintenance, sign and pavement-marking work, and loading or transporting tools and materials.

A valid California driver’s license is required. The ideal candidate is reliable, willing to learn, committed to safe work and traffic-control practices, and available for after-hours, weekend, emergency, or standby assignments as needed. This entry-level position provides training and an opportunity to develop public works maintenance skills.
