Job Description Summary:
The Sr IT Engineer (VDI) will work to design, deploy, and maintain our virtual desktop infrastructure. You’ll own the health and performance of our virtual desktop and app publishing environment, working closely with infrastructure and security teams to deliver a fast, reliable, and secure remote workspace experience for end users.Responsibilities And Duties:
40% - OperationsWorks with internal customers and 3rd party vendors to communicate, coordinate, manage expectations, approve, and assist with operational processes such as crisis management, support escalation, change management, release management, capacity management, and other ITIL processes
20% - Technology Strategy
Assists and sometimes leads the development of technology strategy and roadmap within a given area of specialty including design, documentation, communication, and implementation of new or existing standards for infrastructure technologies while remaining current on industry trends
10% - Research and Analysis
Analyzes, plans, justifies, schedules, and coordinates the implementation and maintenance of the specialty area’s administrative, operational, and financial initiatives including TCO, optimization, and efficiency
25% - Supplier Management
Works with suppliers and, when needed, vendors to produce outcomes consistent with organizational strategy. Overseas reporting metrics, dashboards, and status reporting to meet expectations for quality and performance for discretionary, support and maintenance work.
5% - Financial Management - Plans, monitors and controls operating and capital budget for assigned areas of responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Years of Experience: 8 years technical engineering experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Administer and maintain our VDI environment built on Omnissa Horizon (formerly VMware Horizon), including pools, golden images, and connection brokers
• Manage application publishing and delivery, ensuring apps are packaged, published, and performing reliably across the user base
• Design and maintain the underlying VMware infrastructure (vSphere/ESXi, vCenter) supporting the VDI environment
• Build and maintain golden images, master templates, and instant/linked clone pools
• Monitor VDI performance and capacity, troubleshooting latency, login, and session issues
• Manage profile and user data persistence solutions (e.g., App Volumes, Dynamic Environment Manager)
• Patch and update golden images and published app packages on a regular cadence
• Partner with Security to enforce access policies, MFA, and endpoint compliance for VDI sessions
• Document environment architecture, runbooks, and troubleshooting procedures
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to the VDI stack as user needs and scale grow
