Under the direction of the Information Technology Officer, the Information Technology Administrator is responsible for the optimal operation, security, and reliability of servers, storage, cloud, and software systems across a diverse, multi-location, multi-platform environment.
The Information Technology Administrator will provide expert-level technical system administration for physical and virtual servers; support enterprise hardware, software, data management, telecommunications, and network infrastructure; strengthen cybersecurity, network resilience, and disaster recovery capabilities; oversee external contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure project requirements and timelines are met; manage multiple technology projects while maintaining day-to-day operational excellence; develop clear, comprehensive technical documentation and reports.
Some exciting projects include:
- Cyber Resilience: Implementing and supporting network policies designed to improve cybersecurity and organizational resilience.
- Emergency Operations Center Network Refresh
- City-Wide Telephony Upgrade
- Hybrid to Cloud-Native Identity and Device Management
The Information Technology Administrator may provide indirect supervision over clerical and technical support personnel. Work hours are generally Monday through Thursday (38-hour work week) between 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Some evening/weekend meetings or special events may be required.
The ideal candidate will:
- Bring broad IT expertise and strong technical skills to support City operations.
- Work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Manage competing priorities, projects, and deadlines with organization and accountability.
- Build trusted relationships with City staff, elected officials, and appointed bodies.
- Deliver professional, responsive, solutions-focused IT service.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement in technology, systems, and services.
- Stay adaptable and organized while responding to evolving technology needs and challenges.
Five years of progressively responsible experience involving information technology support with network, systems, or database administration, preferably in public safety or a municipal enterprise-level environment.
Or
Seven years of progressively responsible experience as an information technology administrator, network administrator, at an enterprise system level, with relevant certifications to perform the abovementioned duties.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems management, or a closely related field.

The Administrative Services Department is comprised of the City Manager's Office, City Clerk's Office, Community Information, Human Resources, and Information Technology Services.
The Administrative Services Department is responsible for the day-to-day operations of City government and implements the City Council policy direction. Furthermore, the Administrative Services Department is responsible for providing overall project supervision and promoting organizational stability through financial and human resources management.
